Those players had the chance to get one more fine-tuning before the first games officially get underway next month. A large number of South Carolina’s best and brightest converged on North Charleston and the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Girls Elite Camp. It took place at the North Charleston Athletics Center and was supposed to emanate from there lsat week, but was moved due to Hurricane Ian precautions.
All classes of the state were represented – including forwards from this year’s senior class.
Cook spent her final season on the AAU circuit with Lowcountry Premier 17U. Her play lives up to her travel team’s name as she is indeed a premier baller in South Carolina’s Lowcountry. She will bring down a good number of rebounds as well as score her fair share of points. Cook brings versatility to any team as she can operate either as a forward or play minutes as a two guard. She plays the game on contact and can up her team’s offensive production from the free throw line. Cook will also come through as a defender with her ability to disrupt an opposing team’s passing lanes with deflected passes.
Offing displayed at the North Charleston Athletics Center exactly why Brevard College, located in the mountains of North Carolina, extended the Silver Foxes star an offer. She proved to be an efficient scorer that can convert on many opportunities she gets near the rim. Her offensive rebounding is another strong suit to her game in addition to her overall interior defense. Offinghas also displayed ball handling capabilities that can put her on par with many guards and she runs the floor with efficiency and precision. She is ready to lead 5A Dutch Fork into battle in 2022-23 – her high school swan song.
Johnson is another element to the veteran core that should surely make the Redhawks a force to reckoned with in the 4A ranks. She has competed in track and field events as well throughout her athletic career. Similarly to her teammate Korletta Daniels Korletta Daniels 5’8″ | SF Westwood | 2023 State SC , she picked up an offer from Allen University. Also in similar fashion as Daniels, she runs with SC Future on the grassroots circuit. Johnson is a formidable paint presence for the Redhawks. She runs the floor with efficiency and maintains a high level of energy on both ends of the floor. Johnson gives a big boost to her team’s rebounding efforts and her defense can also affect an opponent’s shot. The transition game is another part of her game that is a strong point.
Late last month, Workman added that she will keep her red, but trade in her Rebels blue for North Greenville University black as she has committed to the Crusaders. She spent the grassroots season with Upward Stars 3SSB 2023. Her versatility proves to be a major asset as someone who can play as either a small forward or as a shooting guard. At 5-foot-11, she pulls down rebounds and can win her fair share of battles on the boards. Defensively, she can create additional possessions for her team. Workman will be a focal point for this season’s rendition of the 5A Rebels.
