Continue ReadingEarly on to start this season West Marshall high school is looking dominate in every game they have played basically, leading them to an overall 7-0 record thus far. Leading this impressive group is a player that we mention a decent amount in Katy Reyerson Katy Reyerson 6’2″ | PF West Marshall | 2023 State IA . Reyerson, the UNI women’s basketball commit, is averaging 20.6 PPG, 12.9 RPG, and 6.1 APG up until now. Showing off that her game is fundamental, efficient, and well rounded. This season I anticipate her to keep up with these numbers going forward until they have to face some competition that has a player who can match up her for an entirety of a game. A major advantage that West Marshall has is that they contain a deep bench with a lot of experience so if anyone over helps on Reyerson, leaving someone open is going to hurt you just as badly in the long run. It’ll be exciting to see how the combo of Reyerson and sophomore Bella Borgos end this season but I think themselves and everyone else is hoping in a state tournament appearance followed by a championship.
Morgan Miller Morgan Miller 5’9″ | PG Iowa City Regina | 2025 State IA and the Regina Regals made it to state a year ago but lost their inside presence coming into this season, this was suppose to cause a lot of issues looking at their future competition but they have not let it stand in their way. Miller, their starting sophomore point guard, has been spectacular to start this season in all facets of her game. She has been a great team leader, an all around scorer, an aggressive rebounder, an efficient shooter, and overall just a play-maker. Coming into the end of our 4th week of the high school season and she ranks #3 in scoring in the state of Iowa and #2 in assists while leading her Regals team to an overall 8-1 record with their only loss coming at home to a high ranked Benton Community team. I expect Miller’s college interest to spike over the rest of this season and into her AAU spring/summer sessions with All Iowa Attack. I currently could see her getting some interest from some nice mid-major programs before it is all said and done.
Bliss Beck
Bliss Beck
Bliss Beck was a player not really on any-ones radar coming into her junior year but she definitely came to play this season and is showing that she will be a major key to this teams success once the playoffs come around. Mostly because she has been over shadowed by some other great talent on their roster, Beck is a presence in the middle that helps rebounds and clean up the offensive boards while also being able to hit her defender with a post move here or there into a finish. On her own Clipper’s high school team she may only be the third highest scoring player so far but if you were to put her in another program somewhere else in the state then she would most likely be their overall leader/scorer. I have a lot of hopes for this Clear Creek Amana team once the regular season concludes and things get a little more real. They have every piece to make a huge run and get to the state playoff’s where I think they can win a few games as well. If everything keeps on clicking, they will be a tough team to stop.
Sydney Doeschot Sydney Doeschot 5’8″ | PG Kingsley-Pierson | 2026 State IA has jumped off the page during the start to her freshman season at Kingsley-Pierson high school, leading them to a record of 6-1 in their first 7 games. Doeschot is a Top 5 ranked player in the class of 2026 while the year began but that may keep moving up with the individually and team success she is having. Averaging just under 22 PPG, 8 RPG, and 2 APG is an impressive stat line but especially for a guard. The biggest thing that jumps off the film to myself while watching her is the ability to rebound. Her high motor and ability to play through being tired shows while she is attempting to rebound every shot she can, creating more opportunities for everyone. Any high level program at the college level out there wants players that do the little things that take effort compared to skill in the long run. This will definitely shine through in Doeschot’s case.
