This is one of the biggest showcases for girls high school hoops in the state, if you enjoy high level competition Edgewood, Kentucky was the place to be. This event was loaded with some of the best prospects in the state along with a nationally ranked team and two ESPN top 5 nationally ranked players. This level of talent all in one gym attracted several college coaches and recruiters from Power 5 programs which included Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State and St. John’s.
This article features players who made an impact during the first matchup as Ryle defeated West Jessamine 68-41.
Watching the University of Cincinnati commit and the number #4 ranked player in Kentucky, Abby Holtman Abby Holtman 5'11" | SF Ryle | 2023 State KY compete for the first time was something special to see. She is a lethal long range shooter with incredible length and size for a wing player. Holtman was the leading scorer for the Lady Raiders with 16 points. She knocked down four three pointers which seemed like a routine outing for her. Holtman is indeed a Division-I talent and her game will transition well into the American Athletic Conference.
Quinn Eubank Quinn Eubank 5'11" | PF Ryle | 2024 State KY is a left hand forward with an excellent all-around game. Eubank played with high intensity she was extremely active on both ends of the floor. Offensively, she showed nice touch and range on her jumper hitting multiple shots from the perimeter. She was most effective in the mid and low post facing up defenders to either hit the short jumper or attack the rim for a layup. Defensively, she can guard positions 1-5 she has enough speed and quickness to guard perimeter players along with the shot blocking ability and strength to protect the paint. Eubank snagged a lot of rebounds and scored 12 points half of those points came from put backs using her elite athleticism. I got a chance to speak with the St. John’s University recruiter that was in attendance she expressed a lot of interest in Eubank and spoke very highly of her game.
Sarah Baker Sarah Baker 6'2" | C Ryle | 2024 State KY had a really impressive performance a the Hoops4Harvest. Her ability to score with her back to the basket made her a matchup nightmare in the low post. She displayed several post moves that she used to be a scoring threat inside. Baker uses her pivot foot so well it became difficult for defenders to anticipate her next move. She was also very consistent making shots from the mid range she showed nothing but confidence taking those shots. Baker had 10 points a hand full of rebounds, a few assist and a couple blocked shots. As a junior she is receiving a lot of interest from college coaches I can definitely see her competing at a big time Division-I program.
Claire Marshall Claire Marshall 5'10" | SF West Jessamine | 2027 State KY
Claire Marshall Claire Marshall 5'10" | SF West Jessamine | 2027 State KY
Seeing a young talent like Claire Marshall Claire Marshall 5'10" | SF West Jessamine | 2027 State KY play it was hard for me not become even more excited and optimistic about the future of girls high schools hoops in the state of Kentucky. Marshall continues to build her reputation as one of the top 2027 prospects in the state. Against a Ryle team with a starting five of mostly upperclassman that are D1 caliber players. She held her own leading the Lady Colts in rebounds and in the scoring department with 12 points. Marshall has a knack for scoring the basketball she hit several shots from the perimeter and got a few buckets in the paint as well. Marshall has tremendous upside and she competes at a very high level.
Ariana Mcloney had a solid outing at the Hoops4Harvest. She is a combo guard with good ball handling skills and great court awareness on offense and defense. She finished the game with 9 points doing a great job of putting herself and teammates in position to score. Mcloney played really impressive on ball defense she used her speed and lateral quickness to keep ball handlers in front of her. West Jessamine has a young but talented roster as these girls continue to build team chemistry and learn how to play together the programs future looks very promising.
Isabella Lewis Isabella Lewis 5'8" | PG West Jessamine | 2026 State KY
Isabella Lewis Isabella Lewis 5'8" | PG West Jessamine | 2026 State KY
Isabella Lewis Isabella Lewis 5'8" | PG West Jessamine | 2026 State KY played with a fearless mentality against Ryle she never backed down from the high level competition. She stayed in attack mode on offense penetrating the lane getting points in the paint or drawing the defense in to kick it out to an open teammate for the assist. Lewis is a deadly spot up shooter and she shot very consistent from three. It seemed like every time the Lady Colts needed a bucket she would deliver with a clutch basket. Lewis was the second leading scorer with 10 points.
