Avery DeHaan Avery DeHaan 5'9" | CG Storm Lake | 2026 State IA
The 5-foot-9 wing and the Storm Lake Tornadoes already have over half the amount of wins they had a season ago, beginning the year 3-0. In the first two games this season, DeHaan posted a 35-point and a 29-point game to kick off her high school career. The Tornado has been outstanding early on and has stood out for a team looking to continue to improve in 4A.
Sadie Cox
The 5-foot-11 forward was one of the more productive freshmen in the state a season ago and hasn’t skipped a beat as a sophomore. Cox has averaged 26 points, 15 rebounds, five steals, and over two assists in the early stages of her sophomore season. It’s hard to ask any more of her at Lenox after what she did a year ago, but she’s been even better. There is still some room for growth from her, but she’s been a force in 1A basketball since stepping on campus last season.
Laney Pilcher
In the first game of Jesup’s season, they lost to Waukon by a healthy amount. However, Waukon had no answer for what Pilcher brought to the floor. The senior finished that game with 30 points and 18 rebounds. The J-Hawk also got to the free-throw line 11 times and made ten. In the second game of the season, where the J-Hawks took home the victory, Pilcher recorded seven steals, five rebounds, and four assists, along with 21 points, to lead her team to a narrow win. Pilcher is one of the most productive guards at the 2A level.
Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5'8" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA
I’m still learning a large portion of the state’s talent, and early season numbers help me pick up on a kid like Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5'8" | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA . The now junior has plenty of accolades to her name, deservedly so. The Wolverine can do a bit of everything from the guard spot and has displayed that this season. She can score from all three levels, get to the free-throw line, rebound her position, create for others, create for her teammates, and force turnovers. Davis has been a handful for opposing defenses.
