Plenty of kids have had standout performances, but we’ll talk about four today. Each of these kids brings something unique to the table.
Morgan Mann Morgan Mann 5'7" | SG Humboldt | 2025 State IA
The Humboldt guard is a good athlete that uses her speed to beat full-court pressure. Mann also does a great job of slowing down around the basket. Because of how much control she plays with, she finishes at a high level around the basket. Mann can also knock down some pull-up jumpers. Her ability to slow down from going 1000 miles per hour helps her score over 20 points per night this night.
Amani Jenkins Amani Jenkins 6'2" | C Johnston | 2025 State IA
There aren’t many more mobile 6-foot-2 posts in the midwest, and her game is growing. Jenkins will take some perimeter jumpers, depending on the situation. However, what I love about her game is her ability to cover ground quickly in small spaces. Watching her move block to block to contest a shot at the rim is one of the more impressive feats I’ve seen over the last year. She’s got an advanced post-game and counters for different kinds of defenses.
Abby Tuttle Abby Tuttle 5'8" | SG North Polk | 2025 State IA
I don’t think many other kids fit seamlessly onto any other team’s offense. Tuttle is an excellent passer and wastes no movement on the offensive end. The North Polk wing also creates scoring opportunities for herself. Tuttle’s way of scoring when I saw her over the summer had to do with patience. The sophomore does a great job staying patient and taking what defenses give her. She never forces anything on the floor and makes the right decisions with the ball whenever she has to make choices on the floor. There aren’t many kids who make sure their team is one of the better offensive units around.
Jayden Kuper Jayden Kuper 5'11" | SF Monticello | 2025 State IA
The Monticello wing is one of three sophomores in Iowa scoring over 20 points per contest. Kuper is leading her team in scoring by a wide margin and doing it efficiently. Kuper is an underclassman taking significant responsibility for putting points on the board and helping her team to an 8-1 record. Kuper has shooting splits of 43/36/39, which aren’t gaudy numbers, but what she’s doing is translating to wins, and I love that she’s figured out what she needs to do win games.
