In the article below we evaluate five prospects that produced this weekend in one way or another,
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
This past weekend at our first live period of the Spring, Malaina Hackley Malaina Hackley 4’9″ | PG Roosevelt | 2026 State IA showed out as a top performance at the UJSN Windy City Classic. Hackley would be described as a fast-twitch, smooth Point Guard, that can pass at an elite rate, while also being able to finish around the rim when she has an open look. Hackley is a prospect out of the 2026 Class in Iowa and she is going to have a chance to make her mark on the hardwood this Winter at Roosevelt High School. If she can come in and compete right away, I’m sure she will be a Day 1 starter, showing her worth almost immediately. This past weekend, Hackley was essential in her team’s success. She was doing her usual thing producing with the ball in her hands, always making the right choice when it boiled down to it. A promising start to her AAU season, that I’m sure she can build on moving forward into May.

This weekend was the first chance that I had to sit down and watch Mya Wilson Mya Wilson 6’1″ | CG Hill-Murray | 2027 State MN from the All Iowa Attack 16U EYBL team and let me tell you, she is very talented. Wilson is the #1 rated prospect in her Class in her home state of Minnesota and I can see why. She stands at 6’1 with an elite skill set, both offensively and defensively. She is someone that her team tries to run their offense through more time than not and that says a lot considering that she is competing on an AAU team this season with 3-4 high-end D1 prospects. She has the ability to catch and shoot from deep, she understands the strategic part of the game, and she has an athletic motor. When you combined all of this, you get someone that could turn into being something really special before her high school career comes to close. That was on full display this weekend and I’m hoping she can keep that rolling moving forward.
Elysionna Westerfield Elysionna Westerfield 5’8″ | CG CR Washington | 2027 State IA is someone that I would keep an eye on throughout the 2027 Class here in Iowa. Team Iowa 2027 BlueStar went into the weekend with a good amount of wins for their season already under their belts but that didn’t stop them from going out and putting on a show. One of their best and most consistent players was Guard, Elysionna Westerfield Elysionna Westerfield 5’8″ | CG CR Washington | 2027 State IA . To explain her game, the way I would describe it is fundamental yet crafty. She can make something happen out on thin air on any possession with her handle and awareness, she can rebound and defend with the best of them, and she is a very tough matchup in 1v1 situations. As you can tell, there is a lot of promise here. If she can continue working hard and expand her game to be able to shoot it from deep behind the arc eventually, she will be in great shape. She is coming off of a high school season where she saw the Varsity floor so as long as she continues to get better, that will be the case again this Winter and I’m sure she is going to be able to continue producing with that squad.

Chloe Johnson Chloe Johnson 5’11” | PG Duluth Marshall | 2028 MN has taken the Midwest by storm the past few years and by the looks of it, that will not be changing up anytime soon. Johnson is a prospect out of the 2028 Class and someone to know in the Women’s basketball world, if you don’t already. Last season, half way through the year she ended up switching programs at compete out of Iowa with the All Iowa Attack 17U EYBL team. As the year moved forward, Johnson saw the floor more and more leading into their National Title run. They ended up just falling short in the end but that doesn’t change the fact that she was someone that her team could place on the floor, whenever they needed an bucket or a play to be made. This past weekend, it was more of the same. Johnson came in off the bench and did what she does. She handled her 1v1 matchups, picked her spots precisely, and kept a positive attitude, all while helping her team to a 5-0 record. There were a lot of prospects from this group that stood out but the youngest is Johnson and that is noteworthy.

This is now back-to-back weeks where Rebecca Aagard Rebecca Aagard 6’2″ | PF North Polk | 2025 State IA of Pure Prep AAU did a great job of standing out, both metaphorically and quite literally. Aagard is a 6’2-6’3 Post and she has been displaying a ton of skill this AAU season. Like I’ve said in the past high school season, Aagard was alright in her team’s contests but what she has shown so far this Spring has been special. She is demonstrating her worth at a high-rate, scoring at the rim in every way imaginable, and using her size to her advantage every chance she gets. This past weekend she produced at a high-rate overall. She demonstrated that she can score with her back to the basket, especially going over her left shoulder. She did a great job of passing in the high-low game that her team’s offense set up for easy looks, and she defended better than most. Not to mention, she was getting her hands on a ton of tips/deflections because of her mixture of reach and athletic ability. I’m not sure where she is going to end up for her collegiate career but at this point, if she keeps doing this, she is going to have a ton of options.
