Two games with some of the top teams and players in the country ended in lopsided victories for the Quakers and the Cadets. Still with the Prep Girls Hoops staff in the building along with a couple of McDonald All-American Nomination members players still looked to show out regardless of score. Here’s who we liked.
Her arial theatrics were very impressive. As much as we were entertained at seeing her fly across the lane, her skill set in shooting the ball and driving in transition was just as impressive. Defensively she gave fits to McNamara and sent one shot flying 30 feet into the backcourt for a fast break after her rejection which led to a stare down and technical.
I haven’t seen a freshman wing with the skill, size and talent since Tasia Butler ran the courts at North Point. It’s hard to find any weakness in Jordyn’s game and if there are any it gets corrected by the effort she puts out every play. She shot the three well knocking down multiple three pointers in route to a 20 point triple/double. Her movement without the ball allows her to be always open even when shadowed by defenders. She is on path to super stardom.
McDonogh had four players in double figures and Ava led the way with 11 points. She never gave up playing hard until the final buzzer despite the Eagle’s being down by as much as 40 points at one stage. She shot only 1 for 5 from the line and as she improves her free throw percentage her scoring output will follow as she is a magnet to the line in games we’ve watched. She used her length well when attacking finishing near the rim level.

LaNae’ had some beautiful moves inside showing excellent footwork, she does are a thing of beauty. She also can tighten up her free-throw shooting to make defenders pay after fouling to try and stop her. She finished the game leading McNamara with 12 points and about as many rebounds. As she gets used to the Mustangs system and they get comfortable with feeding her the ball, she will be one of the premiere post players in the WCAC.
Khia had a great all around performance, she hit the three, attacked the basket and making multiple plays to the tune of 16 points. Her length was disruptive on the defensive end and offensively she had her way with the Mustangs smaller defenders.
Autumn scored all 10 of her points in the second half. She went at defenders no matter their size and was effective getting to the basket. She was able to muscle through double teams and traps set up by the Cadets and had some nice passes. Her shot form is solid as she plays well above the level of a typical freshman especially one leading a high level program.
