Mitchell brings a versatile skillset as the second key frontcourt piece with 11-1 Fountain-Fort Carson. At 6’3, the forward is a matchup nightmare on the defensive end, easily disrupting opposing halfcourt offenses. To kick off her season, Mitchell has posted 6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2 assists, 2.5 steals, and a block per game. The junior forward excels as a connector within the halfcourt offense, proving dependable finding cutters and shooters. At her height, Mitchell is capable seeing above the defense for passing lanes most athletes would struggle to find. She makes the greatest impact on the defensive end, deflecting plenty of passes a game. Mitchell is capable defending four positions as is, thanks to her combination of mobility and utilization of the plus reach. Fountain-Fort Carson will have high aspirations this postseason, in large part to Mitchell’s impact.
Sofia Baldessari Sofia Baldessari 6'0" | SG Douglas County | 2024 State CO – Douglas County
Baldessari has taken quite a leap since the update. Now with Douglas County, Baldessari has taken a prolific rise across the board. To start the season, the small forward has posted 20.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.5 steals while contributing 52% of two pointers and 35% of three point attempts. Her greatest benchmark has been her relatively high shooting efficiency with the rapid increase in volume, a feat in itself. Baldessari has come up when needed, leading the team to a 12-2 record and an 11 game win streak. A huge benefit of her playstyle is that she can be deployed on or off the ball.
Allison Schwertner Allison Schwertner 6'3" | SF Mullen | 2024 State CO – Mullen
Schwertner’s impact across the board with her plus reach sets her apart from most small forwards here in Colorado. It is tough to find 6’3 forwards with the raw blend of interior skills and defensive toughness. Through the season, Schwertner has posted 11.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game while converting 46% of two point attempts. The forward has been dependable down in the post, proving smooth getting to turnaround layups. At her height, she is a tough matchup to back down either in the post or out on the perimeter.
Coryn Watts Coryn Watts 5'8" | CG Regis Jesuit | 2024 State CO – Regis Jesuit
Watts is a delight to watch across the board, possessing ample confidence within a large role. The combo guard may be deployed either on or off the ball, prioritizing downhill scoring opportunities. To kick off her season, Watts has posted 14.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. The guard seeks out plenty of opportunities in the paint, proving comfortable getting off high arcing floaters or layups over contests. Should help defense arrive and stunt the drive, trust the Watts will find the open teammate along the baseline. The combo guard has continued to extend her shooting range well outside the arc. Not to mention her on-ball defense stifles most opposing playmakers.
Taylin Serlen – Standley Lake
Providing a well rounded offensive dose for 10-2 Standley Lake, Serlen is the hub for this group. The 6’1 power forward leads the team in every per game statistic, posting 20 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 4.4 steals, and 1.9 blocks a game while converting 54% of two point atttempts. She has continued to develop her perimeter game, getting more comfortable making decisions off the bounce. Serlen is easily one of the strongest names in the class, causing a wide variety of jump balls or rip away steals.
