Continue ReadingAugust Palmer August Palmer 5’10” | PG Iowa City-City High | 2025 State IA transferred to Iowa City-City High prior to this past high school season, coming from West Branch high school. The move was a big change for the star guard, coming from a 2A program to a 5A, but she did a great job adapting and continued to put up some major numbers throughout her sophomore season. Throughout the year Palmer averaged 18.5 PPG on 42% shooting while throwing out just under 3 APG. Some solid numbers to lead her Little Hawks team. Palmer is a nice talent. She is ultra-aggressive on offense with the ability to drive, shoot, or pass while also being a scrappy defender. When she is on the floor she is the type of player to make everyone else around her better. Going into AAU season with the All Iowa Attack she is going to be showing off her skill more and more. She is going to be a really nice get for some college out there one day, her ceiling is high she just needs to lock in on the consistency part of her game and it will take her a lot of places in the future.
Highlights
Abby Tuttle Abby Tuttle 5’8″ | SG North Polk | 2025 State IA is a combo guard who can play the 1-3 for her North Polk Comets team when it comes down to it. This year when her Comets team made the state tournament Tuttle was positioned to be their point guard. I would conclude that watching her game in their offense at the state tournament, she played fantastic as their point guard but it’s not her natural position. She just seems like more a combo/2 guard when you watch her game unfold on the floor. With that being said, she was one of the best POINT GUARDS in the state this past season and there is no questioning that. She showed off that she knows how to control a team, be a leader, and understands what to do in big situations wether it be to score, pass, or run offense. On defense she does a fantastic job of getting back and talking to the teammates around her about what is going on. She was one of the most vocal players I saw all state tournament week at the Well. Going into this fall I expect this group to follow behind Tuttle in almost every aspect from a guards point of view. She will be the leader the team falls on when they need a bucket or a play made, something I’m sure she is more then excited about. Her versatility is going to make her an even bigger prospect in this state before her high school career comes to an end.
Isabella Borgos Isabella Borgos 5’8″ | SG West Marshall | 2025 State IA was the guard presence that her West Marshall high school team needed this season to help them make it to the state tournament. Borgos, a quick footed shooting guard, stepped up big time this year for her sophomore season. She is the definition of a shooter/scorer and she showed it off at an impressive rate. She averaged 16.6 PPG on 47% shooting, falling right behind their senior and UNI commit Katy Reyerson Katy Reyerson 6’2″ | PF West Marshall | 2023 State IA , who averaged just over 19 PPG. I think she showed a lot of promise moving forward. Over the next few seasons she is going to get the chance to step up more in her teams offense now that Reyerson is gone and make some big plays. I like her as their first option on the offensive end next season as long as she keeps expanding her game on all levels. This is a West Marshall team with a good foundation, solid coaching, and a nice core group coming back so if Borgos keeps on this trajectory she is going to be putting up some major numbers next season for the Trojans.
Charlie Pryor Charlie Pryor 5’5″ | SG Woodbine | 2025 State IA has been on the radar in the class for a few season now but this year I think she did a really good job showing that she is an all around play maker when she takes the floor. Pryor, a shifty point guard with a nice handle, is a gamer. She can play with the best of them and shows it on a nightly basis. She puts up consistent numbers for her team and her team did well this previous season. Some of those numbers that jump off the page are her ability to rebound and shoot the three ball. You can tell how active she is by her rebounding numbers alone. She brought in 115 rebounds in 26 games at the size of 5’5, showing everyone that it doesn’t matter how tall she is, she will simply work harder than her opponent. Going forward keep an eye on Pryor. She was one of the most complete guards in her entire class last season and if that continues to grow, she is going to be a problem looking into the future and a nice get at the college level for a successful program out there who needs a diverse guard.
