Below I am going to cover some players that have been excelling at their post position this spring out of the state of Iowa, leading them with some solid momentum into summer. Enjoy!
Kahlie Hill Kahlie Hill 6’3″ | C Calamus-Wheatland | 2024 State IA has impressed this spring with the work she is doing for her Iowa Prep 17U platinum team. Hill is a center with great size and knowledge of passing angles. She works mercilessly inside the paint to get in the right spot before the ball is even near her in the their offense. Defensively, she is a rim protector and does a great job of walling up against smaller/weaker players. If she continues to work hard and stay consistent, she will be getting even more interest than she already is, which I know currently is a good amount.
When talking about dominance at the center position in the state of Iowa we need to mention Dasia Foster Dasia Foster 6’3″ | C Oskaloosa | 2025 State IA and what she is going to bring to the table the rest of this AAU season, leading into the high school year. Foster is a center with a known presence in the middle. She is a player that all opponents have to worry about once they beat their initial defender as she will be right there, waiting. Offensively she is just as good. She moves well and does a fantastic job of getting up and down the floor rim running, while also being good with her back to the basket, knowing how to use her size to her advantage. This spring I expect her to keep the ball rolling for her Pure Prep AAU team, something that will lead her right into school ball this June.
Audrie Helmrichs Audrie Helmrichs 5’10” | PF Edgewood-Colesburg | 2024 State IA came onto the scene last season as one of the best rebounders in the state. She has been putting out a good effort thus far this spring in attempts to prepare herself for another great year this upcoming winter. Helmrichs is an interesting prospect. She puts up great numbers, is consistent, and is efficient on both sides of the floor in most occasions. If she works hard this off-season, competes at a high level on the AAU floor, and stays dedicated then it wouldn’t be crazy to think that she could have an even better season then she did a year ago. Only time will tell though.
Emma Boswell Emma Boswell 5’11” | SF Orient-Macksburg | 2026 State IA is a name you heard a good amount last season and you will hear about a good amount this season. Boswell, a savvy forward who displays a good amount of experience on the court, lead the 2026 class in Iowa in total rebounds and total blocks last season on the year. Along with that she also dished out a good amount of assists and scored at a consistent rate as well. She may have many abilities but her best ability is definitely on the defensive side of the ball, helping her team get stop after stop. Looking toward the future Boswell is likely going to be a terror over the next few seasons, she just has to take it one game at a time.
Ellie Muller Ellie Muller 6’3″ | C Dowling Catholic | 2026 State IA showed just a glimpse of what she could do last season for Dowling Catholic. A player with speed, size, and skill all wrapped into one. Muller is a game changer and the older she gets, the better I believe she is going to be. Currently at her age she is one of the tallest and longest players on the floor at all times while having some great touch and coordination with the ball. If she understands how to become a little bit more physical near the hoop while expanding her game out as well, then we are looking at a player who could step foot on a college floor almost immediately after high school, producing right away. This winter Muller and her star PG Ava Zediker Ava Zediker 5’10” | PG Dowling Catholic | 2025 State IA are going to try to make magic once again, getting their team back to the state tournament. Something that I actually expect to happen with these two leading the ship.
