With that being said I saw a good amount of winning happening from afar with a lot of teams out of Iowa. These are just some of the programs and players this weekend that shined on their perspective AAU circuits.
Lady Martin Bros.
The Lady Martin Bros program put together a weekend across all age groups at the Queen Of The Court event they participated in. They had multiple teams this weekend go undefeated and bring home championships, across a variety of age groups. This program really shows what it’s like to be a team and how to play for one another. That was on full display this weekend. Something I love about the Martin Bros teams, boys and girls, is that they are one of those programs that never tries to be too flashy, but just efficient. Which makes everything easier for one another.
Some of their players that stood out this weekend: Karrington Asp Karrington Asp 6'2" | PF Western Dubuque | 2025 State IA (Western Dubuque – 2025), Brynlie Hadenfeldt (CR Prairie – 2026), Brooklyn Fromm (Decorah – 2026), Emily Larsen Emily Larsen 5'11" | SF Cedar Rapids Prairie | 2026 State IA (CR Prairie – 2026)
Pure Prep
A program and team that is stacked with D1-level talent is Pure Prep out of Des Moines, Iowa. Pure Prep has some real game changers in their program. Some talent that is either currently bringing in interest at a national level or will be bringing in interest at a national level in the near future. That talent shined bright this weekend and competed at a high rate. I expect several of their teams to be in the running for the S40 National Championship before this AAU season comes to a close. With their level of talent, it’s definitely something that is possible.

Iowa Prep always brings energy, positivity, and some real ballers to the court whenever they are going to compete. This weekend was no different. With a program that runs some nice offensive sets and get its players into the right spots, it then turns to the players to finish the play successfully. I think that this program on both sides, does that really well. They explain simply that it doesn’t matter if the opponent knows your plays or sets, if you execute more efficiently than them, you will be successful. Something I think more programs should emphasize as their kids get older.
Some of their players that stood out this weekend: Denise Steen (CR Prairie – 2024), Mallory Heinricy (Marion – 2025), Jenna Heinricy (Marion – 2024), Lola Frimml (Iowa Valley – 2024)
