All of this was well worth it as talent from DC, Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania were well represented. Here are some of the best players witnessed on day 1.
Nyla was not only the best player in the gym, but for the first half while going 11 for 11 from the field with an array of three pointers, drives and floaters she was arguably one of the best players on the planet. She had a spectacular game overall and the first half was pure perfection for BWSL 17U EYBL as they rolled past the Germantown Panthers.
Madisyn showed no fear against Boo attacking everyone, even the 6’8″ Abuna Ruop Abuna Ruop 6’8″ | C Norfolk Christian | 2026 State VA . She had success getting to the line and finishing on a lot of plays and played hard even as the game started to get out of hand.
Abuna is 6’8″ and can do things without jumping that most women on earth can’t such as, rebound in a crowd, block shots out of her area and finish at the rim. She is just a rising junior so expect her to be a major force by college. Right now she does everything you need her to. She has intimidating length that discourages opponents from driving which gives her value by just being on the floor.
Mia has a college 6’3 frame and finishes well with contact. She is physical on both ends and has a nice variety of moves as she gets in the paint. She can attack from the high post facing up or play down low with her back to the basket.
Toby attacks in traffic well staying under control. She didn’t give up on multiple plays keeping her dribble alive under pressure to break down the defender and get to the basket and finish. She kept the game close for a bit in the beginning giving the Panthers hope of a possible upset.
Madison played passing lanes well on defense and got loose on fast break opportunities. Quite a few times her speed in transition led to nine players trailing her as she made her way down the court for easy transition buckets.
