Continue ReadingArnold missed her junior season, transferring from Maynard Jackson to Southwest DeKalb, forced to play JV. Shamaria made up for lost time at GBCA and reminded those in attendance just how impactful her game is. The physical combo-forward put up 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks in a 42-32 win over Hiram. Arnold carved out space when scoring in the paint and showed finesse with her outside shot. Shamaria is a valuable defender that can guard 3-5.
Ellie’s got that dog in her. She plays with a chip on her shoulder, especially when tasked with guarding bigger players. Southards defended a 6-foot-1 post and did a great job denying her position and blocking her out. Offensively, Ellie is a lights-out shooter and is a skilled driver. The gym rat tallied 10 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals and 1 block. NAIA and D-II schools have offered.
The Georgia Tech-commit lived at the foul line in a 38-36 win over Union Grove. Thompson went 8-10 from the stripe, finishing with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals and 1 block. Tianna’s savviness of getting to the rim and drawing contact put the Wolverines in foul trouble. Thompson’s size advantage in the backcourt turned over the Union Grove guards.
Toni is always good for one or two “wow” moments on the floor. The wiry swingman is a lethal perimeter scorer with a high release on her jumper. She gets to her spots routinely and can glide her way to the basket. I really like how Warren flies in for rebounds and her ability to block shots. Wofford is getting a good one.
Carnegie’s swan song saw her post 16 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals in a 48-38 loss to Carver-Columbus. She sank three threes, defended the post and made the offense click. Danielle left the program in the middle of the event and is looking to transfer.
Trigger Tre sank four threes en route to 14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. She hit three straight threes in the second half. Berry is an emotional player that can turn the tables in a blink with her expert three-point shooting.
Highlights
Don’t leave Bella open in the corners. Hopkins can fill it up from the three-point line. She sank three threes and got to the basket in Pickens’ 47-44 win over New Manchester. Bella led the Nettes in rebounding, finishing with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Caroline does the dirty work well, especially on defense as she is asked to defend post players. Mullins is competitive in the paint and is a courageous rebounder. Mullins always saves her best for last, a second half player that looks to score when it matters most. She had all 7 of her points over the final 18 minutes.
With Hailee Swain Hailee Swain 5’8″ | PG Holy Innocents’ | 2025 State GA out, Zaynah Preston Zaynah Preston 5’7″ | PG Holy Innocents’ | 2024 State GA was asked to lead a pack of young Cubs to victory. Zaynah did just that, tallying 14 points and 4 rebounds. She cashed in on three threes and was able to finish downhill. Preston is a very good defender and a crafty playmaker. She may get overshadowed a bit, but Preston is a really good college option.
Black powered Chestatee throughout camp, attacking the rim and playing her usual bully-ball brand. When she needed to, she stopped and popped from the mid-range and made some nice passes downhill. Coastal Georgia offered at the conclusion of camp.
The star guard carried Peachtree Ridge, scoring 15 of their 19 points in a loss to Holy Innocents’. Tripp looked good using a sharp, quick crossover really pounding the ball with velocity. She made plays getting to the rim and shot 5-6 from the foul line.
