Coach's Box: Wildcat Shootout

The Wildcat Shootout bought over 75 plus teams to South Georgia for the 5th Annual Wildcat Shootout. The shootout took place over 5 gyms, and each gym had talent from top to bottom. I had the opportunity to not only coach but also scout from the coach's box. Here are the top players I competed against at the Wildcat Shootout.    Hutcherson is a playmaker that steps on the floor with confidence. This is the 2nd summer that I have had to coach against her and she always brings the energy. A player that continues to move without the basketball and never stops working on the defensive or offensive end. A player that can create her own shot and contort her body to finish through contact. A leader on both ends of the floor and can score from anywhere on the court. Her stock keeps rising each time she touches the floor.     Hines is a matchup nightmare for any players who have to guard her inside the paint. A player that can split the double team and score at will once she gets position. Athletic and linky build allows her to defend all 5 positions and score over her defenders. It is hard to believe she is only a rising sophomore as her game speaks upperclassman vibes. She knows how to get position and score and rebound in traffic. A player you have to keep from getting touches and double team to stop her. High IQ post player who can see the next pass.     Wilson is a tough scrappy guard that is not afraid to defend and use her body inside the paint. A player that once she gets going downhill it's hard to stay in front of her. Demands the ball on offense and has the ability to score at any given moment. Rising sophomore who is the floor general for her Ribault team. Sees the floor well and pushes the ball well in transition.     Berry, the Longwood commit, is a game changer with her size and ability to take over a game. A player with a nice pull up jump shot and handles which allow her to get to the basket. Knows how to take what the defense gives her and makes you pay with the 3 ball if left open. Shifty guard who can play all 5 positions on the floor and use her length as an advantage. 2-way player that gets going quickly when the ball is in her hands.     McKinzy has one of the purest 3 balls I have ever seen. A player that can catch fire quickly from behind the arc. She is always moving without the ball and knows how to be down and ready when the ball swings to her. She doesnt need much room to get her shot off and she knows how to elevate and release quickly. A player who shot the basketball very well over 2 days and has the ability to get to the basket when you run her off the 3-point line. A game changer.
