Demi came in and got right to work. Some players took a game to get warmed up, but she was not one of them. She caught my eye with her ability to change directions quickly and effectively. She kept defenders off balance and worked them over with pull ups, floaters and hard drives to the hoop. She has range out to the three point line as well. Defensively she was on point, causing havoc with her quick hands and ability to stay in front of people.
I love tough guards that play with swagger. Savannah was cooking everything in front of her for most of the day. She has excellent speed and upper body strength, so she was able to beat defenders off the dribble and then finish through contact at the basket. Her vertical skills are impressive, and that makes her even harder to guard. Really enjoyed watching her play.
Amaya straight dominated the competition today. I liked her calm demeanor throughout the day as she decided which weakness to attack. She is a high IQ baller that can facilitate the offense or simply take over and get buckets. She can make all the necessary passes accurately because her fundamentals are sound. She has great instincts and all the physical tools like speed, ball handling and the ability to change directions quickly.
Payton had a sluggish start to the day but quickly woke up and took over. She was all over the court all day. She is a very disruptive player, using athleticism and her tenacity to control the game. She kept showing off new stuff in every game. She got to the basket at will and finished in a variety of ways. She made pull up jumpers, step back threes, and made some nice passes. She pounded the boards, blocked shots and came up with steals. What a day.
