Here’s a look at some new names who left really good first impressions on Saturday. Presented in numerical order of their jerseys and excludes players who were listed as top performers yesterday.
Great Crossing was well represented at camp on Saturday and Custard showed she is ready to help the Warhawks as a freshman. Maya was an efficient scorer and showed a midrange game that others didn’t display. She also showed that she can finish through contact at the rim and didn’t take plays off on defense.
Highlights
Kayley is a versatile player who showed she can both score inside and out as well as guard the post and on the perimeter. She’s a good rebounder who goes after out of area rebounds. She looks comfortable pushing the ball in transition and could have some of the highest long term upside in the 27 class.
I really liked Wheeler but I wanted to see more of her after Saturday. She was at her best when she was playing angry. At one point, she went down with a minor injury and when she came back, she looked mad and played at a higher level. Perhaps she’s one of those players that requires extra motivation to find her highest gear but if she figures it out, she’s going to be a top player in this class, period.
Highlights
Jozie played both inside and out on Saturday and looked comfortable doing both. Her ballhandling was solid and will only get better. She didn’t shoot a ton of threes but her form was good and looks like she will only get more comfortable as a three level scorer as her game develops. Allen also showed a good ability to rebound that will serve her well, long term.
