Continue ReadingOver the course of the next couple weeks we will be breaking down the latest top five prospects in their position for the Class of 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027. Our rankings update every three months. Prep Girls Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek will be breaking down the top five players in each position for each class. This week we have our focus on the rising juniors.
The 5-11 rising junior is the true definition of a two-way player as she continues to improve her game. Girardi is an elite shotmaker and play creator where she gets her teammates involved as well. Girardi has one of the smoothest shooting strokes I’ve seen across the state and it has only improved over the course of the summer. Her defensive game is also elite to watch as she can guard positions 1 through 4 where the opposition has trouble getting off a good shot.
The 6-1 rising junior made a lot of noise this summer as far as her recruitment process goes where she got offers from numerous Power 5 schools. Her offensive skillset has continued to improve as she can knock down shots at the front of the rim, mid-range or even from the perimeter. Her length and athleticism allow her to defend against the perimeter as well as on the interior. Barrett is a smooth and strong rebounder as well on the defensive side where she can battle on the boards with the best of them.
Highlights
The 6-1 rising junior plays a traditional position-less game where she can play the wing, post or even the guard position. Her versatility truly speaks volume about her game as she can score at all three levels as well as defend at a high level. Look for Harris to improve this upcoming season at Montverde Academy, after she averaged 17.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game as a sophomore for Faith Christian helping lead the Lady Lions to their first state championship in school history.
Highlights
The 5-11 rising junior plays with a ton of versatility and is a proven winner. Jones plays with a ton of toughness and physicality on both ends of the floor doing what it takes for her team to win. Jones is the true definition of a two-way player as she can impact the game on each end of the floor. She also has a great basketball IQ where she makes the right plays and I expect offers to start rolling in by the beginning of this upcoming high school season. She will look to lead King’s Academy back to the state championship as they still eye for their first title in school history.
The 5-11 rising junior small forward has continued to improve her game every time she steps onto the floor. McFadden plays with a ton of length and athleticism that people mistake her for a guard. McFadden plays exceptionally hard on both ends of the floor whether it’s finishing around the rim on the offensive end or battling for a rebound on the defensive end. McFadden helped lead St. Thomas Aquinas to their second consecutive state championship last season, as this year they will look to eye a third title.
