One of those was North Carolina. With Cox Mill HS serving as this year’s host venue, the Hoop State was one of the first on the list to host a Top 250 Expo this year with the start of the regular season right around the corner. South Carolina, Colorado, Kentucky and New England were the other regions that did so.
Who were some of the names who put forth eye-opening performances on Sunday at the home of the Chargers? Without further adieu, here’s who.
The team she as part of at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops North Carolina Top 250 was very guard-heavy. But she stood out as one of the premier forwards. Ortscheid is listed at 5-foot-11 and plays for another county school in nearby Northwest Cabarrus. She plays with her back to the basket and has no problems attempting tough shots against multiple defenders. She understands that basketball is played on contact which can give her opportunities at the free throw line and will call for the ball when she is confident she can make a play. One can also count on Ortscheid to block shots near the basket.
The standout from 3A East Rowan certainly brought her fearless attitude the short trek down Interstate 85 to Cox Mill HS. She has no problems attempting shots even against multiple defenders and is confident in her ability to make 3-pointers. Church also has no issues attempting tried over taller defenders and also brings superb ball handling and hustle to the court. She also has no problems drawing contact and giving her team additional opportunities at the free throw line. Church will now combine her vast skillset with veteran experience as she embarks on her junior campaign with the Mustangs.

It is not uncommon to see a few standouts make it to a Prep Girls Hoops event out of another state. In the case of Nooe, she is a standout for the South Lyon Lions based out of Michigan. Nooe will look to make efficient passes – including in the transition game. She looks to attack the rim and has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Nooe is listed at 5-foot-4 and fuses together efficiency with a high basketball IQ. Juniors and sophomores ruled the roost at this year’s North Carolina Top 250 Expo and she certainly was one of the standout 2025s.

We mentioned Breault in one of our preview pieces prior to this year’s North Carolina Top 250 Expo. She must have seen our preview evaluation of her and lived up to what we wrote. Breault is listed at 5-foot-8 and will display stellar defense – including in the interior. Rebounding is another one of the strong points to her game. She was one of three at this year’s event representing the 4A Huskies out of Hough. A 3-point shot is part of her offensive repertoire and she displays her overall offensive versatility with her ability to convert on her attempts near the rim.

Prep Girls Hoops has had the opportunity to see her play not only during the season but also during the AAU season with Lady Strong /Strong Center – one of the premier travel teams in North Carolina. It continues to be said that height cannot be coached and that is certainly the case for the 6-foot-1 veteran standout out of Grace Christian-Sanford. While she does many of the things coaches want to see out of bigs – including rebounding and efficient scoring, she will also play defense on the perimeter, use her wingspan to her advantage and free up the rest of the offense for her teammates.

Similar to Breault, Zoerb is another one of the 4A Hough Huskies that was on the scene at the 4A school that is Cox Mill. Zoerb stands at 5-foot-10 and was particularly efficient from behind the 3-point line. Along with her confidence she has in her ability to drain her attempts from long range, she also managed to display impressive ball handling capabilities. Zoerb can also be counted for shot blocking reasons in addition to her ability to make efficient passes in the transition game. She certainly was another of the standout 2025s that shined on Sunday at the home of the 4A Chargers.
Just as there was a strong presence on Sunday from 4A Hough, there was also a strong showing at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops North Carolina Top 250 Expo from the Northwest Cabarrus contingency that was on hand. Walton was particularly efficient with the ball in her hand and had no problems attacking the basket and finishing strong at the rim. She complimented that with a knack for being able to knock down her 3-point tries. Walton is a multi-sport athlete who also takes part in track and field events alongside what she does basketball-wise and those attributes certainly translate seamlessly to the hardwood.
