Every player can potentially be a playmaker and if you combine skill and effort you have something truly special. Here are some special players that proved to be playmakers at the DMV Top 250 Expo.
Deja is an athletic wing with good size. She didn’t have the ball in her hands every play like some of the guards but she knew how to make things happen when she got into one on one situations. She was able to disrupt a lot of plays on defense with her activity and fast hands.
We knew that talent that LaBrea brought to the table before the event even started. Would she bring the consistency and effort that she has been showing all summer was the question. The answer was yes, LaBrea raised the level of play in the entire camp as players were on notice early that they can’t slack or they will be dominated. It was clear to everyone that she was one of the nations top players in her class.
Brooke Lynn was giving her body up on every play and there was a point that she needed to see the trainer but she stayed on the court and finished her game. After leaving the trainer she was back on the court going all out. She is the type of player that can change the outcome of a game from her effort alone and the type of player every college coach loves to have on their team.
Emorean used her high flying theatrics to fly all over the court. Quite a few of her plays turned into highlight reels and even some of her routine plays were head turners. I saw some of her teammates locking in on her just to see what she was going to do next. She pulled off plays in a way that not many players in the country can do.
Samia could have given a class on the crossover dribble. She was clicking on all cylinders and when it comes to playmakers there was no one in the building that was above her. She unpeeled layers to her game showing that she has mastered every skill on both ends of the ball. It was a pleasure watching her play and I can see her making a lot of money playing this game at the next level.

Ava doesn’t command a lot of attention but if you pay attention there is a lot to like about her game. She is highly skilled and has a very good shot. She has the ability to break defenders down off the dribble but will make the easy play and trust her teammates. She will take what is given and not force things that aren’t there which I appreciate, I still want to see her full potential because I think she has more in her bag.

Zhen showed that she can make plays on her own of the rebound and the drive. Her mid-range shot was clicking which made it hard for defenders to leave her and go into help defense. Her timing on blocking shots made her a force defensively.

Jayda was a late addition and wasn’t in the book. However, it didn’t take long for her to make her mark and get noticed. She had a stretch where she made plays on seven straight possessions which consisted of a couple of steals, an assist and an old fashioned three point play. She covered so much ground on the court that it was hard not to think there were two of her on the court.
Christina attacked strong and welcomed contact. She would throw her body around in the lane then immediately jump back into full court pressure on the ball. She was able to finish off plays at the line with a consistent free throw shot.
