Continue ReadingIt didn’t take long to see that Nyla is already playing at a SEC Freshman of the Year level. She is crazy athletic with her finishes but also have great elevation on her jump shot. The way she attacked she forced the officials to make the call and send her to the line where she knocked down her free throws.
Maddy showed a complete game at the point. She knocked down shots from all over and had some wiggles navigating in traffic. She is among the best in the nation at her position and it didn’t take long to realize that when she’s on her game she can cook anyone in the region. She was impressive on finishes contorting her body to get her shot off against the bigs and she was disruptive on defense.
Emma was great at controlling the flow of the game. The Roadrunners have an impressive roster and Emma has the ability to be dominant without being overaggressive. She makes the plays that she should and makes plays that seem impossible to make.
Highlights
Caliyah went into her bag of tricks turning routine plays into highlight reels. She handles the ball like a magician and has really good accuracy on her shot. She has a lot on her shoulders as she will probably be the focus of the defense while she’s looking to carry the Falcons. Eventually everyone realized that they couldn’t stop her from doing whatever she wanted, they just needed to try and lockdown everyone else.
Ava had one of the best runs that I’ve seen from her in a while. Everything was clicking and the three was on fire. She showed everyone in the building why Coach Frese was so high on her and that her ceiling has no limits. If she can continue at this level of play this season McDonogh will be very hard to beat.
Cincear has emerged as a star in what seems like overnight. She’s playing on a level that is as good or better than many of the nations top ranked players and with Shabach’s schedule she will get the opportunity to show what she offers on the next level.
Kendall has been making plays at the rim since middle school. She is a master at getting to the basket. She has been known to knock down shots from outside but I have never seen her make shots at this level. If this keeps up we are looking at another All-American from the Quakers camp
Each year we talk about some freshman phenom that everyone needs to know. She’s one of the best we’ve seen in a while yada yada. Then you have Ivanna, she can possibly be one off the best freshmen ever. The crazy thing is that she is under the radar. She’s not on any national list and even some local coaches have no idea who she is. She is incredibly athletic and has a non stop motor. She knocks down three’s, rebounds and goes coast to coast beating everyone down the court. She plays like a player from a different era and it won’t be long before local gyms are packed with high majors just to see her.
