Modern basketball is all about “positionless” basketball–finding players that know how to hoop instead of know how to play a position. Coaches want wings that can do it all. They want posts that can step out on the perimeter. The more versatile a player is, the more creative a coach can be with her. These are the types of players college coaches are clamoring for.
Painter is listed as a PG, but I think she’s more than that. She’s the type of kid that could play all over the floor for a college team because of her length and playmaking. She contributes all across the boxscore: last season she averaged 19 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. On D, her size allows her to guard 1-4, and offensively she’s comfortable with or without the ball. A really nice prospect.
Lowe was a team leader on her Pickett County team that made it to the State Tournament last year. They will be favored to return again this year, and Lowe is a major reason why. Lowe was named All-District and All-Region last season. She’s a do-it-all kid that contributes to winning in multiple areas. For example, in last year’s substate win sending PC to state, Lowe had 12pts, 5rebs, 5assists.
Every coach loves a players that can impact a game in multiple areas. In the Region Championship win over Clarkrange: 16/8/6. Region semis: 18/11/6. Look at those numbers! She’s the type of kid that can lead you in rebounds and assists while being a high level scorer. She’s a unique player!
She has a college ready body with great strength, and she can lock down an opposing guard with her quickness. A really nice college prospect that’s flying under the radar.
As a sophomore, Frana was is a starter and major contributor on Catholics DII State Champion team. She’s the type of kid that values winning about stats, and that shows in how she contributes to her team. She’s a fantasic rebounder as a wing, and super tough defender that plays bigger than she is, simply by her effort level and understanding of the game.
Frana is the type of kid that will pull a rebound, and then has the skill and IQ to put the ball on the floor and lead the fastbreak herself. Really diverse in her skill set. Super switchable defender. She will again be a starter for Catholic this year and will be critical to their efforts to defend their Gold Ball.
Brown is a dynamic guard, who is a great two way player. Offensively, she can knock down the 3 ball, pull up from midrange, or use her speed to go and attack the rim. Defensively, she is going to lock you up the full length of the floor. Applying pressure, she’s going to frustrate you and disrupt the play or it’s going to be a turnover. She gets steals by the bunches as her defense becomes her offense. Her nickname on her AAU team (Team BWright) is “Sticky,” supposedly because in regards to her “sticky fingers.” She has a knack for always coming up with the ball. She contributes across the board in points, assists, rebounds, and steals. Great prospect who is gaining the eyes of college coaches near and far.
There just isn’t much to add about this kid–she’s a star. Truly the definition of a positionless player, I’m convinced she could play 1-5 effectively on offense, and guard 1-5 effectively on D. She has a wonderful mixture of skill, size, athleticism, strength, grit, and IQ that allows her to play all over the floor depending on what Bradley Central needs. Had a terrific AAU season, and will continue receiving big time offers as she continue to improve. She’s truly a modern wing.
Reed possesses great length and athleticism, combined with a growing skill set. Defensively right now she can guard 1-5 and is a big time contributor in rebounds, blocks, and steals for a team that went to the Glass House last season. Offensively she was consistently in double figures, and had a few 20 point nights. She’s a player with HUGE upside that college coaches are beginning to put on their radars because of her versatility.
