Week 1 Standout Guards on First Coast

In this article we look at standouts around the area. Not all teams participated in the Inside Explorer Thanksgiving Classic. Here are some of the players around the First Coast who stood out in week one of the season.   [player_tooltip player_id='248551' first='Alanna' last='Tatum'] played well on her first game of her Sophomore season and showed all those traits that make her a special player: defensive pressure, tight midrange, ability to shoot the three, and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.   [player_tooltip player_id='400785' first='Audrey' last='Beyer'] scored 23 points in her game last week. Beyer is one of the top 3 point shooters on the First Coast. She connected on 2 last week . Beyer was also a defensive standout with 6 steals per game last week.   [player_tooltip player_id='738971' first='Gabi' last='Iturralde'] is started the season out with 17 points on her very first high school game. The freshman guard knocked down 3 three pointers in the process. Iturralde is a very good young player and one of the best guards in the 2027 class.   [player_tooltip player_id='808696' first='Lesly' last='Gonzalez'] continued her deadly three point shooting with 10 threes in the first week of play. Gonzalez played well in preseason and is showing that she is one of the best shooting point guards on the First Coast. Gonzalez has a great motor and does a good job of playing the point guard position.   [player_tooltip player_id='708143' first='Kendall' last='Proffitt'] / St Johns Country Day / 2028 . Proffitt , who is playing High School ball as a 8th grader, shot it well during the AAU season and the young 2028 guard has picked up where she left off. She lit up the score board in week one with 9 threes in 2 games. She can flat out shoot the ball and there should be a lot of threes flying between Proffitt and [player_tooltip player_id='221691' first='Mary' last='Kate Kent'] this season.   [player_tooltip player_id='426239' first='London' last='Jenkins'] has picked right up from last year and averaged 21.5 points in the first week of play. Jenkins was active all over the court, averaging 4 steals and 4 assists per game. Jenkins is one of the top 2024 guards in the area who knows how to get the ball in the basket.   [player_tooltip player_id='514544' first='Narissa' last='Blocton'] (2026) had a 14 point game in week one and should have a breakout season this year. The youngest Blocton is a talented and versatile player who can get it done on both ends of the court. On the offensive end she is a slasher and loves to score in the paint. She is extremely disruptive on the defensive end of the floor, where she is good on the ball and in the passing lanes.   [player_tooltip player_id='730176' first='Salyse' last='Dillihay'] averaged 9 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game during week one of the high school season. She plays on both ends of the court and is showing great senior leadership. Dillihay is determined to make Atlantic Coast a player in 7A District 1.
