Continue ReadingAs we come to a close with our 2027 Player Rankings Update for the 2023 calendar year, we are going to cover five more players that have been producing this winter. All of these players, have stepped on the floor in which they were assigned and they have taken care of business. Wether that be at the varsity level, JV level, or Freshman level. Each player is making the most out of their opportunities and because of that, they are finding some success early on this winter.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Kalyn Bailey Kalyn Bailey 5'10" | SF Westview | 2027 NE – 5’11 / PF – Westview High School
Kalyn Bailey Kalyn Bailey 5'10" | SF Westview | 2027 NE has been a player out of the 2027 Class that I had on our Watch/Wait List prior to this season tipping off but her first few high school contests have still been impressive. Bailey is handling her own and taking care of the opponent that is placed in front of her, each and every possession. In Bailey’s first few high school contests, she is averaging around 10 points a game for Westview, while also grabbing some rebounds and creating havoc on the defensive side of the floor. At this rate, Bailey is going to be a player that produces at a steady amount over the next few years. She has the size, strength, and knowledge of the game, she just needs to put it all together. Which is very doable for someone with her build and skill-set. I’ll be keeping an eye on Bailey and this team moving forward, they have some pieces that I think could produce at the next level in some form/facet, after their high school careers come to a close.
Addison Bratt – 5’11 / SF – Elkhorn North High School
When you join a program that is coming off of a state title, with one of the best players in the country on your roster, it makes sense as to why that individual would be running the show. For this 2027 Class coming in at Elkhorn North, they will have to be patient. If they are, they will get their chance to shine and they should dominate from the experience they are getting while competing at the Freshman/JV levels. A player that is going to be a main piece to this teams future puzzle is Addison Bratt. Bratt is a 5’11 Forward at the moment, with a real ability to shoot the basketball from all over the court. When I had a chance to watch Bratt compete at our PGH Top 250 Expo, her game was different then what I would have expect but it was still very productive. She settled more for outside shots then I would have thought but she also demonstrated balanced/coordinated form, leading to mostly makes throughout the day. Obviously this role is going to be a little different on a high school floor but she definitely has the skill to produce in multiple ways, she just will need to find out what her team needs from her moving forward and she can go from there.
Harper Bohaboj – 5’7 / PG – Bennington High School
Harper Bohaboj is one of two freshman that start for Bennington High School’s varsity team this winter and they are putting up some productive numbers throughout their first few games. Bohaboj is playing at the guard position and averaging 7 PPG, 4 RPG, 4 APG, and 2 SPG. Some nice numbers for a team that is currently sitting at 3-1, with two freshman starting. Bohaboj has a lot of room to grow but she is a heck of a player already. She came into this season, not too sure of what to expect and so far, she is producing at a high rate in most categories, while also being a great teammates. Just like everyone else named in this article, the progress and growth moving forward is what will be the major key to where Bohaboj could end up playing in the future. If she continues to expand her game, she is going to be a household name in this state throughout the next 3.5 years. No other way around that fact.
Leah Robinson – 5’6 / SG – Elkhorn North High School
Just like I have mentioned above with Addison Bratt, this Elkhorn North program is no joke. To be a freshman and to come in and produce at any level in this program is a promising sign of what the future can hold. Someone who has been holding her own at a high-rate to begin this winter is Leah Robinson. Robinson is a multiple sport athlete, who excels at multiple things on the hardwood. She has the ability to play her natural 2-guard position or she can be moved over to the Point Guard spot if her team needs her to. Robinson and Bratt haven’t seen too much of the varsity floor this season from my understanding but that should not be their main focus in my opinion anyways. Their focus should be to continue to evolve their individual game’s and to use the opportunities they are receiving now, to better themselves for the future. So when next year comes back around, they are ready to go, no questions asked. I think they are making the most of their chances right now, no matter what the competiion level is and that is something they should be proud of. As for Robinson specifically, she is also a beast on the track field. It’s going to get interesting when she gets to being an upperclassmen in high school because I have a feeling that there are going to be handful of prestigious Universities, who would like her to run for them. I’m not sure which way Robinson will fall on that decision but whatever she ends up doing, you can tell she is going to be a winner doing it.
Elise Pederson Elise Pederson 6'0" | SF Omaha Westside | 2027 NE – 5’11 / F – Omaha Westside High School
Elise Pederson Elise Pederson 6'0" | SF Omaha Westside | 2027 NE has started off this season at Omaha Westside High School with some decent production. Pederson is one of two freshman on this varsity roster and she is the only freshman who is starting at the moment. Pederson’s game is simple. She doesn’t try to do too much and because of that, she finds success on the boards and in the paint. Throughout her teams first few games, she is averaging around 4 PPG, 2 RPG, 1 SPG, and 2 BPG. Not bad numbers for a freshman, whose team is 2-2 and playing competitive ball. I think that Pederson could have a bright future ahead. She gets the advantage of starting as a freshman and using that experience moving forward. She still has a long way to go but her mixture of natural size and skill, is definitely something recruiters should pay attention too. Before you know it, Pederson could be a leading powerhouse in the paint over the next few seasons, she just needs to continue to grow her game and stay locked in.
