The tournament brings together some of the best teams in North Carolina along with some of the best around the country. Here are some of the names to know in the Wonderland bracket.
Kate Sears Kate Sears 5’9″ | CG Watauga | 2025 State NC is a dynamic player that plays with a high motor. Offensively, she is a player that can score from all 3 levels. She has deep 3 point range. She can take her defender off the dribble and score at the basket and in the mid-range. She also displays the ability to get make her teammates better. She does this by getting into the paint and kicking it out to shooters or dumping off for a layup. Defensively, she uses her 5’9″ frame to create havoc. She uses her length to block shots and create steals. She is a player that will definitely be a pleasure to watch as she displays her skills at the John Wall Holiday Invitational.
Another name to know is Sophomore guard Jazmeen Stone Jazmeen Stone 5’7″ | CG Mallard Creek | 2026 State NC representing the Mallard Creek Mavericks. Offensively, she is a player that is skillful and can get it done at all 3 levels. She is a player that if you leave here open she will make you pay. If you close out, hard she will drive to the basket and finish. She has good footwork and uses that footwork to get to her spots for the mid range game. She is also a playmaker. She consistently looks for the hit ahead pass in transition. She drives that lane, touches the paint and makes the right pass.
Taliya is a name to know for the Rolesville Rams. She brings high energy and motor to the Rams. She is a player that can do a little bit of everything. Offensively, she can create for herself and for teammates. She can also shoot the ball all the way out to the 3 point line. Defensively, she is a nightmare for the opposing offensive player. She uses he length to disrupt passing lanes creating tons of steals.
Coming all the way from New Jersey, Mya Pauldo is a skilled guard with a lot of promise. She has the ability to finish well around the basket. She also a player that can get her shot off if she is left open. Her playmaking skills are continuing to develop but she has the ability to set up her teammates. Defensively, she is active and gets her fair share of steals. She is a player that will be exciting to watch during the John Wall Holiday Invitational.
Speller is a do-it-all freshman that is going to be a terror the next 4 years. She is a player that plays with out fear. Offensively, she has an relentless attack mentality. She wants to get down hill and when she makes up her mind to do so, nobody is going to stop her. She finishes around defenders and through contact. She combines her down hill ability with her vision and she is always looking to get her teammates involved. Defensively, she is an absolute terror. The same intensity she has on offense, she also brings to defense. She jumps into passing lanes and creates stills at a high clip. She is one that everyone will enjoy to watch not only during the Holiday Invitational but also for the next 4 years.
