Moore is a player that seemingly is coming out of nowhere because she sat out last year as a transfer. After an incredible freshman season at Tellico Plain, Moore has transfered to McMinn Co, and already picking up where she left off. She recently scored 30 points vs Sweetwater on the road, and has multiple 20 point games. The PG is in for a HUGE year.
The Oak Ridge standout is BACK!!! If you’ve never watched her play, do yourself a favor and and make time to watch her! She’s a stat stuffer coming back from injuries, and is really finally rounding back into form. Johnson had a 20 point, 22 rebound game in a win over Knox Central this week. Also had 4 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 steals in a win over Powell.
Walden’s season has been simply impressive, and continues to become more so. She’d been averaging over 4 made 3’s per game all season, and this past weekend went off: 34 points, 10 made 3’s. Walden is simply one of the best ’27 scorers in the state, and as hard as she works, look for her to continue to make big noise. This week she had games of 25 points and 34 points. And then she followed that up with a 13 assist game (breaking the TKA school individual record). She is literally breaking records left and right. Oh yeah…and she’s just a freshman.
Highlights
Krumweide had 26 points and 14 rebounds in a 55-36 win over Summit HS. She had had 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a 74-18 beating of the Tennessee Heat. Krumweide was one of our picks for breakout performers, and she is on a roll right now!
Washington recorded a double-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds six steals and three assists. She then finished with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals last Friday in a loss to Rockvale. Washington is shooting up recruiting circles with the season she is putting together.
Morris had 24 points, including eight 3-pointers as the Lady Bruins captured a 20-point win, 78-58, over Cascade. Morris’ 8 made 3’s is a huge night for this young lady who’s really starting to make a name for herself.
Roberts had a masterpiece of a game vs Karns this week: 25 points, six rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Then in a win over Campbell County, Roberts had 22 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Roberts has come alive for Karns at just the right time.
Ray finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds in a 78-58 loss to Brentwood. She also had 18 points and four rebounds in Cascade’s 57-51 win over Fayetteville.
In possibly the most difficult stretch of games for any team in the state, GP played Northview and McMinn Central. In a split, Newman averaged 22 points and seven rebounds against two of the best teams in the state. No matter what defenses do to slow the TTU signee down, Newman will always figure out how to get hers.
Young led the way with 20 points and nine rebounds in Cascade’s win over Fayetteville. She had 14 points and five rebounds against Brentwood. Young continues to have a really impressive season scoring the basketball.
Young put together a tremendous week for Siegel girls basketball. In two wins over Summit and Mt. Juliet, Young averaged 20 points per game. Young has been Siegel’s best player all season. Her game looks very polished, and she dictates speeds. In order for Siegel to have post season success, Young must step up as she has.
Smith went off for a career high 21 points and 9 rebounds vs Chattanooga Christian this week. She knocked down five 3’s and hopefully this signifies her coming out party for CHS. Coach B has decided to put the ball in her hands, and she’s going to have a lot of opportunities to show out.
Branam has been a steadying for for the TKA team that really flourishing and growing at the right time. The 6’2 Junior is averaging 16 points, 10 rebounds, and block a game. Branam has established herself as one of the best post in the Knoxville area, and has given TKA multi-faceted, inside-out scoring attack.
Van Vranken is off to a fantastic start in her senior season at Dekalb. She is averaging 18 points per game and is the leader of this team on and off the floor. She’s really made great strides in her game, and she’s turned into a fantastic player! Her sister Chloe Van Vranken (’26) is also making an impact on the floor and scored 16 against Smith County. Watching two sisters successfully navigate the varsity basketball court is a joy watch!
