Continue ReadingIn this article we finish up our coverage for the 2026 Class as it pertains to this month’s Update but before it’s over, we are going to cover a few more players that you should notice before this high school season comes to an end. Each player is someone that has produced for their perspective team this winter in more than a few ways.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Hayden Lynn Hayden Lynn 5’11” | SG Forest City | 2027 IA of Forest City is someone out of this 2026 Class that is going to be able to produce at the next level if she stays dedicated enough in her off-season work. Lynn is a lengthy Shooting Guard/Combo Guard, that is versatile in her play-style. Most of the time, she is moving from wing to wing, looking for some space for an open look. If the defense sticks on her, she is very good at understanding the situation and adapting to it, usually giving her an easy take to the basket. Lynn has a lot of natural height and reach. When you combined this with her ability to communicate and work well with the others around her, you see a lot of success. I’m interested how her next 2.5 years are going to play out but as of right now, she is on a promising path. She is putting up note-worthy numbers to start off this season and she should be able to use that momentum moving forward.
Up until this point, I haven’t had the chance to cover Maggie Van Schepen Maggie Van Schepen 5’10” | PG Western Christian | 2026 State IA and her play-style but that’s all about to change. Van Schepen is another player in this article that has natural height and athletic ability. She is a multiple sport athlete that holds her own, not only on the hardwood as it pertains to the sport of Basketball, but in Volleyball as well. To generalize this season, I would say it has been a successful one for Van Schepen and her team. The Huskies are currently sitting with a really nice record, with half of their regular season schedule left to go before the Playoffs begin and they have to be feeling good about that. They a have starting lineup with skill, length, and dedicated players that are superior than most. If they just worry about themselves, they are going to love how their season plays out in the end. As for Van Schepen, she is talented enough from the Guard position to make things happen with whatever team she is playing with. You just have to give her a chance.
The Mount Vernon Mustangs have started off this season taking care of business and because of that, they are currently ranked as the #1 team in the 3A Class in Iowa. Someone from this group that doesn’t get enough credit is PG, Courtney Franck Courtney Franck 5’8″ | PG Mount Vernon | 2027 IA . Franck isn’t the player that is going to lead everyone in scoring each contest but she is going to be the one responsible for setting everyone else up for success that is around her. When you have a roster like the Mustangs with a lot of size and skill, you don’t need your PG to over-play their position and do too much. You want them to control pace of play and make the best choice for the group as a whole when it comes to big moments. Franck does all of that. She has demonstrated this season that she can lead a well-seasoned group, no matter the circumstances or situation.
Aubrey Kroymann Aubrey Kroymann 6’0″ | C Maquoketa | 2026 State IA of Maquoketa is the other half of the Cardinals inside presence and she does a great job of playing her role. Kroymann is naturally more of a Center at this point in her career but she is slowly working to expand her game out to the perimeter. What makes Kroymann good is her ability to take up space in the middle of the lane. She understands what her role is on this team and how she can be successful in that role. Not to mention, she is very good from the block when she catches with her back to the basket, not needing a whole lot of time to make a strong move at the rim. Kroymann is the perfect example of, “if she wants it enough, she is going to make it happen.” Over these next few seasons, she could turn into something really special. She just needs to continue to work on the correct things and stay confident in that work.
