Trishelle Miller Trishelle Miller 5’10” | CG Sioux City East | 2026 State IA of Sioux City East High School is going to be a collegiate player at the end of her high school career. Where at or with whom? I’m not quite sure yet but she is going to have some options. From the start of her Freshman year, Miller has been special. A Guard that has a superior mixture of skill and knowledge of the game for her age, is always putting on a performance. Offensively, she demonstrates a swift and effortless handle, fast movement from side to side, beautiful shot-form, and the ability to pass with the best of them. Defensively, she has above average athleticism, physical prowess, and determination when matching up with a talented opponent. As for being another player out of this stacked 2026 Class, Miller is truly one of the most gifted. She hasn’t seen the floor a whole lot this winter due to sickness/injury but I’m sure that is going to turn around the second half this 2023-2024 season!
When I am ranking a player, there are a lot of deciding factors that go into that ranking. Factors such as size, natural ability, court vision, fundamental shot form, knowledge of the game, efficiency, coach-ability, ect. A player that checks off most of those boxes, if not all, is Averie Lower Averie Lower 5’11” | SG Clear Creek Amana | 2026 State IA of Clear Creek Amana High School and that is why she comes in at #4 in this Update. I’ve said this for almost two season now but I firmly believe Lower is the best shooter in the state. When you account for all the factors that I mentioned above, you start to understand why I say that. Her natural ability to shoot the basketball from anywhere on the floor with a balanced stance, while standing at around 6’0, makes her an interest prospect and a very tough matchup for opponents. Not to mention that this season for the Clippers, Lower has been handling the ball more, bringing in up the floor at the Point Guard position whenever needed. As for Lower’s future on the hardwood, it’s really bright. She has multiple Division-1 offers at the moment and I expect that list to continue to grow over the next few years.
Highlights
Running into our #3 spot in this Update we have Point Guard, Macy Comito of Carlisle High School. Comito is a Guard that has been taking the state by storm over the past 12 months. She has been making her presence known every time she steps onto the court, no matter what team she is lacing up with. The best part of Comito’s game is that she doesn’t have too many holes. She is fundamentally sound in several different aspects, while being elite in the categories of scoring, assisting, and defending. From a coaching perspective, your starting PG needs to be someone that you can trust in. An individual that is going to make good choices with the basketball and is going to listen to you during important stretches of a contest. When speaking about Comito, she does all of this really well. She is someone that is going to help you, more than she hurts you on a regular basis, no matter the competition level. I had the chance to see her perform a handful of times this season already and there is no doubt that she has been a Top 3 player out of this 2026 Class.
As Jayla Williams Jayla Williams 5’10” | CG Ankeny | 2026 State IA grows up and gets older, her game at the Guard position is turning into a “Swiss army Knife”, meaning that she can do it all. She can bring up the ball as your PG and run the action of the team, she can play the SG spot and hit shots at an elite rate from all over, or she can play the 3 and work the mid-post toward the basket. Whatever you need from her, Williams can do and that is not something I can say about everyone in this Top 5. To start off this 2023-2024 high school season, Williams picked up where she left off last year and that is averaging a high amount of PPG, RPG, APG, all while being the X factor for her Ankeny Team. Like everyone else in this article, it’s easy to see that Williams has a special game. I have her ranked as the #2 or #3 overall player, regardless of Class, throughout the state at the moment and for good reason. Coming into this winter, she was sitting with some Power 5 offers but I expect that list to gain some momentum come Spring time. She is just too good and her ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB team is definitely going to help in that process.
Coming in and holding onto the #1 ranking in this 2026 Class is Jenica Lewis Jenica Lewis 5’10” | PG Johnston | 2026 State IA of Johnston High School. For anyone who has been paying attention at all over the past two years, this isn’t shocking news. Lewis is a top ranking player throughout the country according to ESPNW in the 2026 Class and very deserving of this #1 spot in her home state. Lewis’s game can be described in several ways but the best way would be superior. She is superior at shooting compared to most, she is superior at handling compared to most, she is superior at rebounding from the guard position compared to most, and she is superior at setting up others for success compared to most. I get asked a lot, what makes Jenica so good? These are just some of the most basic reasons. At the end of the day, her play-making ability is next level, her knowledge of the game is second to none, and she has athleticism at 5’10/5’11. As long as she stays motivated, no one is going to be able to stop her but herself.
