Shalawn Yates
Standing 5’9, you just don’t see a lot of PG’s the size of this 2025 talent. Her size allows her to see right over the top of the defense and she excels at finding her teammates for scores. Shalawn, who is also a standout member of the West Craven track and field team, is very good at using her speed to her advantage as she rarely gets beat down the floor in transition. She truly excels with her off-ball movement as she is lightening quick on her back-door cuts. Shalawn is certainly a player worth watching more of as she is certainly a high ceiling player.
Najiha Allen
Najiha Allen
Najiha is a true playmaker when she has the ball in her hands. The sophomore has been leading her team this season with 16 points per game and has averaged double digits her entire high school career. She is the guard who plays with a ton of confidence and she knows how to get to her spots and finish with authority. Very aggressive and strong when she attacks the lane and knows how to play and finish through contact. When she gets going, it is very difficult to stop as she can get into a zone in a hurry. She is without a doubt a player whose recruitment should certainly pick up.
The 6’6 Gaston Christian star has made tremendous strides in her game over the last 6-7 months. She is averaging 11 points and 12 boards this season and there appears to be a ton of upside here. Happy is certainly working her way towards becoming a high level prospect. She is doing a great job of making sure she boxes out her opponents and going up high for the rebound. If the ball is in her area, there is no one that can out-rebound her. She has shown improvement in her ball handling abilities and she has developed some nice post-up moves in the paint. She knows how to use her pivot foot to go up strong and shoot right over the top of defenders. Happy is certainly on the upswing and worth keeping an eye on.
Lily Ervin
Lily Ervin
There is a whole lot to like in this prospect out of Lexington who appears to only be scratching the surface of what she can become as an overall player. Lily is a multi-sport athlete that splits time on the volleyball court and soccer field. She has a lot of natural talent and is very impressive with her size and speed. She can play 3-5 and is very aggressive when she attacks the rim. She embraces contact and will put her shoulder down to move defenders right out of the way. She has a nice soft touch around the rim and gets up high, making her shots difficult to block. She can handle the ball well and isn’t afraid to take it coast to coast. At nearly 5’10, she has a good basketball frame and definitely has very high potential.
Lillie Bumgarner
Lillie Bumgarner
Lillie’s size and skillset at the Center position can not be ignored. When she is on the floor, she must be accounted for and she forces the defense to crowd the paint to keep the ball out of her hands. She is a high percentage shooter when she gets the ball in the paint and can finish inside well. She does a good job passing out of the double and getting the ball to the open teammate. She can run the floor and she is a very good rim protector. She is capable of playing off the switch and has enough quickness to step out and defend the 3 point line. Lillie is a better ball handler than some may realize and an overall solid player with a natural feel for the game.
