Continue ReadingCommitted to play at women’s basketball powerhouse Iowa next year, Ava Heiden Ava Heiden 6’4″ | C Sherwood | 2024 State OR has long been one of the top prospects in the state of Oregon. The 6’4 power forward is unstoppable around the rim and on the glass with her combination of size and athleticism. The Bowmen immediately showed massive improvement after her return to play this season, with league performances like her 24 points, 6 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals against Newberg, or her 10-point, 13-rebound double-double at Liberty to go along with 4 assists and 3 steals. She is also one of the best passers I have seen at her position.
Kyleigh Brown Kyleigh Brown 5’7″ | PG Silverton | 2024 State OR is another top prospect headed to play at the D1 level next season for the Portland State Vikings. She has been the heart and soul of Silverton’s program throughout her career, putting up dominating showings night in and night out. A couple of weeks ago, she put up 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals at Woodburn, followed by 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals against Lebanon. She really is someone who can do it all and shows very little weakness in any aspect of her game, as she was the only player to be in the top rankings in point, rebound, and assist averages midway through the season, with 23.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
Mahogany Chandler-Roberts Mahogany Chandler-Roberts 6’2″ | PF Benson Tech | 2024 State OR is one of Oregon’s finest, with a commitment to play D1 hoops at the University of Central Florida next year. She is the two-time PIL Player of the Year with a chance to win it for the third year in a row this season. The 6’2 forward is an electric athlete, and combine that with her size, she is an absolute nightmare for opposing teams to try to match up against. A great defender as well, Chandler-Roberts is an extremely versatile player who is able to guard just about any position on the floor. Midway through the season, she was averaging 17.2 points and putting up double-doubles on a regular basis with her efforts on the glass.
Kendra Hicks Kendra Hicks 6’0″ | PF Jesuit | 2024 State OR will be truly missed by the Crusaders next season as one of the best bigs in the state. She might be the best rebounder in Oregon at the moment, as she was averaging 14.8 boards per game midway through the season, with a particularly impressive knack to pull down key offensive rebounds. She has had multiple 20+ rebound games this season, including 13 offensive rebounds and 7 defensive rebounds in their most recent game against Mountainside. She has great footwork and touch around the basket, and she will undoubtedly have an immediate impact next year as she suits up for the Nevada Wolfpack.
Another incredible D1 talent from the #5-ranked Techies, Mauriana Hashemian-Orr Mauriana Hashemian-Orr 5’6″ | PG Benson Tech | 2024 State OR is an all-around gifted basketball player. The 5’7 point guard has great handles and is a natural floor general who seems to be in complete control of dictating the tempo of the game. She also can score from anywhere on the court at all three levels, and is pest of a defender for opposing offenses with her explosiveness. Hashemian-Orr has Benson primed for a deep postseason run in her senior year, and her beautiful game will fit right in next year as she heads off to play some WCC basketball at St. Mary’s in California.
Kasey Booster Kasey Booster 5’8″ | SG Mountain View | 2024 State OR , who recently inked her commitment to play at St. Martin’s University in Lacey next year, will continue to impress at the next level. Booster is one of the top shooters in the state, knocking down six 3-pointers in their most recent game to finish with 26 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals, while also being a leader for her team on both ends of the floor. With a massive rematch against Redmond coming up on Monday, the lone team the Cougars have lost to in conference play, all eyes will be on Booster who dropped an incredible 34 points in the last match-up. The versatile Booster has a very bright future ahead of her.

Although Jaylyn Arosemena Jaylyn Arosemena 6’0″ | SG Tualatin | 2024 State OR is unfortunately sidelined with injury for the remainder of her high school career, we will all have the privilege of watching her continue her career up at Western Washington next season. Arosemena truly has been an impossible match-up in Oregon high school girls’ basketball with her 6’0 size and her unmatched athleticism that allow her to play anywhere, 1 through 5. She can score at all three levels while also being one of the best defenders on the floor at all times. In one of her final games before injury, she had 21 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, 2 assists, and 1 block, which is very representative of the skilled player that she is.

Ally Schimel Ally Schimel 5’10” | CG Corbett | 2024 State OR , who has yet to commit for her college career, is a player that college coaches should be fighting over at the moment. Midway through the season, Schimel was second in the state in points per game, with an incredible 26.0. She is so much fun to watch as the game of basketball just seems to come so easy to her, even while she is doing incredible difficult things. Her shot from deep is beautiful, she is an incredible finisher around the rim, her 5’10 length allows her to get tips, steals, and blocks all over the place, and her high basketball IQ is obvious from the jump. Corbett is a perfect 20-0 and #1 in 3A, and a lot of that has to do with Ally Schimel Ally Schimel 5’10” | CG Corbett | 2024 State OR .

Another one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state, Danaeja Romero Ah-Sam Danaeja Romero Ah-Sam 5’8″ | SG Springfield | 2024 State OR would be a gift to just about any college program. The two-time 5A state player of the year and reigning state champion knows what it takes to win and to be a very good basketball player. Romero Ah-Sam has excellent court vision while leading the charge for the Millers, and obviously is a very gifted scorer. She regularly has games like her 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists over North Eugene, or her 23 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals against Thurston. Despite Springfield losing one of its other best players, she has helped them to the #3 spot in the state, primed to attempt to repeat as champions.
Madison Gerhart, the reigning Pacific Conference Player of the Year, is committed to continue her career at Bushnell University down in Eugene next year. The mega-talented forward has helped the Grizzlies to an undefeated conference record and the #4 spot in the state thus far this season. She gets it done scoring in the post and with a nice mid-range shot, while also showing off her skills with blocks and steals on the defensive end. In their last two games, Gerhart had 12 points, 7 boards, 2 steals, and 2 blocks against Glencoe, followed by 15 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, and 1 block.
