In this article, we highlight five of those players and where they are going to go! Each individual listed is someone that I think could take over once they get on a collegiate floor.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!
Alex Flattery of Sioux City East High School is one of the most complete and respectable prospects throughout this 2024 Class. Flattery is a versatile Combo Guard with the ability to score in bunches in the blink of an eye, while also being a stout defender. Over the past four seasons, she has continuously showed her worth on the Varsity floor, no matter who is placed around her. At the next level, she will be competing with a D2 program in Nebraska – Kearney, that she ended up choosing over some other D1’s that had interest. In this Update, Flattery sits at 31 to end her career throughout the state but you could justify her being a Top 15 player in this Class. It all depends how you look at things. She is a monster on the boards, she has a lethal handle, and she is someone that her teammates can trust in. She is also as loyal as they come as a teammate but it would not surprised me if she shines as a Freshman and gets the opportunity to compete with a Power – 5 collegiate program at the end of the day. She is that complete as a prospect. I’m not sure what exactly her future holds but she gets a ton of respect from me on the hardwood. This is a player that I wouldn’t mind personally coaching or having on my squad. She does a lot of great things on the floor and she is only going to get better at the next level. Just sit back and watch.

The sharp shooter that is Kayla Reis Kayla Reis 5’7″ | PG Dallas Center-Grimes | 2024 State IA ended off her high school career in good graces. She was a prospect that did her job by lighting up from behind the arc every contest this past four years. Starting this Fall, Reis will be lacing up with Rockhurst College out of Illinois to continue on her basketball journey. Reis comes from a family of ballers and she is continuously working to get better. There never seems to be a moment throughout a contest in which she is out of sorts, always playing with an even-toned attitude and demeanor. The best part of Reis’s game to me isn’t that she can shoot it with some of the best but more-so that she knows WHEN to shoot it, in which ever situations. She knows what she does best and she works to perfect that craft anytime she gets. Shooting the basketball translates so I wouldn’t be shocked if she saw the floor with her collegiate program as a Freshman this Winter. She works hard, competes with positivity, and she always plays with a smile on her face. Something more prospects could take away moving forward.
As of most recent, Reggi Spotts Reggi Spotts 5’8″ | PG Mason City | 2024 State IA has committed to compete on the collegiate floor with NIACC out of Mason City. This move makes a lot of sense. Spotts is out of the Mason City area and so staying home was definitely on her radar in this situation. It also helps that NIACC is heck of a program and they are only getting better so I’m sure she is going to be happy with her choice. Spotts as a prospect is a “wire-y” guard, that is really athletic. She isn’t the tallest but that doesn’t stop her from being super aggressive offensively. She is very good at attacking the paint and her defender, making them make a business decision at some point. I think at the next level that Spotts is going to be able to really make her mark. She makes a lot of good choices and her coaching staff is elite so as long as she can seize her opportunities, she is going to be a name we hear about a lot at the next level over the next 3-4 years.
I could write a novel about Lindsey Davis Lindsey Davis 5’8″ | SG Nodaway Valley | 2024 State IA and her play-style but I’ll keep it short and sweet. Davis is a D2 committed prospect, with a D1 talent level. She is going to be competing with the Upper Iowa Peacocks for her foreseeable future and I’m sure she is going to produce whenever she see’s the court. Sometimes you have players out there who just have “it”. They are smooth, calm, and collected at all times. They work relentlessly on the their individual game but understand that they can only be successful if everyone around them buy’s into one common goal. Davis does all of this. She is one of the smoothest moving players out of this 2024 Class and that’s been the case for a few years now. If Davis finds a lot of success over these first couple of collegiate seasons, watch out for a school to come in and sweep her up with some sort of offer. She really has a D1 level ability so it’s more then possible but for now, she is only going to worry about the season in front of her and what she can control.

Something you hear me say time-to-time in situations is, “If you are good enough, they will find you.” I think this statement reigns true with the prospect that is Mila Van Weelden Mila Van Weelden 5’9″ | SG Marion | 2024 State IA . Weelden is someone that has progressed tremondeouly over her four high school seasons and because of that, she is going to have a shot to play with Loras College out of Dubuque this upcoming Winter season. Van Weelden is a lengthy 2/3 Guard, that can move around because of her long arms and quick first step going either direction. I had a chance to watch Van Weelden compete up close this past AAU season/Senior year and she stood out more times then not. She demonstrated that she can work outside of the lane or near the hoop. she rebounds hard and makes good business decisions, and she is one of the first to get on the floor for a loose ball any opportunity she gets. Loras recently has gotten a new coach this past year and he has really made a difference already within their system. He brings a lot of knowledge to the floor and I’m sure he is going to see the worth of Van Weelden these next four years. I’m not sure if she will see the court right away as a Freshman because of their roster but she definitely is going to be someone to keep an eye out for in the near future.
