Carly Smith Carly Smith 5’6″ | PG Owsley County | 2024 State KY finished her senior season as a 2024 Miss Basketball candidate, 14th region player of the year, and became the 6th player in KHSAA history to reach 1000 career assists, all while leading the Lady Owls to the Sweet 16 State Tournament for the first time ever. Smith is a true competitor that has a knack for getting others involved, she can also score at all three levels, and never backs down on the defensive end.
Highlights
Johnson Central had one of the best seasons in program history finishing with a 29-3 record as well as a 57th district championship. Senior guard Taylor Mckenzie was the catalyst to the Lady Eagles success as they were one game away from making it to the Sweet 16. Mckenzie finished the season averaging 11 PPG and was a 1st team All-Region Selection.
Highlights
North Oldham finished at .500 with a 17-17 record on the season. Senior guard Katherine Smith Katherine Smith PG North Oldham | 2024 State KY was the second-leading scorer with 12.1 PPG along with 4.9 RPG. She was a key contributor all-season for the Lady Mustangs and had a notable performance in the 29th district game. Smith scored a team-high 22 points and came close to leading her team to victory in a overtime thriller against South Oldham.
Ella House was the leading scorer and rebounder for Hancock County averaging 13.8 PPG and 7.3 RPG. House is a high motor player that knows how to make an impact on both ends of the floor. She had several big time performances this season, including a double-double performance against Union County, finishing the game with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
In her senior year at Harlan High School starting point guard Emma Owens Emma Owens 5’6″ | PG Harlan | 2024 State KY reached 1000 career points, made 3rd Team All-Region, and finished the season averaging 13.4 PPG. Owens is a quick and shifty guard with superb handles that allows her to penetrate the defense to either score in the paint or dish it to an open teammate. She also does a fantastic job drawing fouls and earning trips to the free throw line where she shot 73% and made 130 of 178 attempts on the season.
