Defending D2 champ Lansing Catholic defeated Haslett, while Tecumseh beat Parma-Western to advance to the Regional finals on Wednesday. Here are the players who specifically caught my eye with their performances on Monday.
Alli Zajac Alli Zajac 6’2″ | SF Tecumseh | 2025 State MI sealed her defender to finish inside and knocked down 3 triples from far beyond the arc. She has the length and strength necessary to play at the next level and put up 18 points in the semi-final for Tecumseh.
Highlights
Makayla Schlorf Makayla Schlorf 5’4″ | PG Tecumseh | 2026 State MI won a tough battle for Tecumseh against very talented guards. She dribbled through the defense and used a high pick up dribble to convert a layup off glass, drilled multiple 3’s, converted a reverse layup on a baseline drive, and drew a charge on defense. Makayla’s contributions on offense and defense were very impressive and essential to the Indians victory on Monday.
Highlights
Chloe Bullinger Chloe Bullinger 5’8″ | SG Tecumseh | 2026 State MI provided a consistency for Tecumseh that helped keep them in front when the offense experienced dry spells on Monday. Her ability to gain advantages inside, rebound, and finish at the rim were crucial in the second half. Chloe scored 6 field goals and hit both of her free throws to give the Indians a 14 point boost, while adding 4 rebounds and a steal.
Addi Zajac Addi Zajac 6’0″ | PF Tecumseh | 2027 State MI was a rebounding machine for Tecumseh on Monday. She corralled 10 rebounds and hit a couple mid range jumpers to give the Indians a spark. Perhaps her best play was when a guard drove into the lane and she swatted the ball out of bounds with authority. Addi will be an important inside factor against Lansing Catholic’s skilled forwards on Wednesday.
Highlights
Bayli Stewart Bayli Stewart SF Parma Western | 2025 State MI competed valiantly on both ends for Parma-Western on Monday. She battled in the high and low post to front an elite forward. Bayli succeeded in deflecting an entry pass to create a turnover. She finished a fake pass layup in traffic and used a variety of pivots in the low post to create free throw opportunities. Bayli drives hard downhill and converted a left layup off two after beating her defender. She outworked two defenders for an offensive rebound put back. Bayli is a tough wing for the Panthers.
Rayah Hitt Rayah Hitt 5’8″ | SG Parma Western | 2026 State MI dominated offensively in the first half for Parma-Western. She knocked down a deep 3 off a screen and made a high IQ play by passing the ball off of a defender’s back to score on an inbound play. Rayah knocked down another 3 as she relocated through a screen again and was able to split through two defenders using a low crossover to finish at the rim. Rayah showed off her range and competitiveness against a great opponent.
Aubree Allen Aubree Allen 6’0″ | PF Parma Western | 2026 State MI is a talented post for Parma-Western. She used a drop step to finish inside and confidently backed down her defender to finish left-handed with ease at the rim. Aubree knocked down the 3 ball as she produced 11 points with 5 rebounds adding a block inside.
Morgan Wilcox
Morgan Wilcox
Morgan Wilcox made the gritty plays needed to help Lansing Catholic earn a victory on Monday. She was heavily involved in the paint to pass out of the high post, screen for shooters, and finish at the rim. Morgan contributed 9 points and led the team with 8 rebounds; she defended well and is an asset to have as the second post in the Cougars lineup.
Gabby Halliwell caught fire for Lansing Catholic after the team struggled to convert field goals in the first quarter. She knocked down three triples that ignited the Cougars offense to come alive and showed her ability to handle the ball under pressure with poise late in the game.
Anna Richards Anna Richards 5’9″ | PG Lansing Catholic | 2024 State MI pressured Haslett’s guards immensely, causing frustration for her opponent. She blocked two shots on the perimeter with excellent body control on her closeouts. Anna finished a layup through contact and converted a fabulous baseline drive off the glass. Under pressure, she was able to knock down two shots from 3 and led the Cougars with 13 pts.
Highlights
Christina Dixon Christina Dixon 5’10” | SG Haslett | 2026 State MI played against one of the best teams in Division 2 on Monday and garnered much attention from the Cougars defenders. Against very skilled defenders, Christina was still able to drive with quick bursts and convert tough finishes at the rim. She led the Vikings scoring 12 pts, knocking down a 3 and added 2 steals with a block on the defensive end. Christina has impressed me with her athleticism, competitiveness, and scoring abilities this season. She left an impression on spectators in the stands and will be a prospect to watch this off-season.
