Individual and team camps, tournaments for club team members and MAYB high school team tournaments are among them. Scope out some top talents in the senior class to watch ahead of the 2025 high school season.
Marilyn Soeken Marilyn Soeken 5'7" | CG Central Plains | 2025 State KS , 5’7″, PG, Central Plains, WKE – The Oiler floor leader has been among the top talents in the class for a couple years. A terrific ball handler who makes good decisions and changes gears well Soeken is a talented three level scoring threat who finishes with athleticism. Her quickness, energy and IQ also make her consistently effective on the other side of the ball as well. She was named to the Central Prairie League first team this past season and earned classification Varsity Kansas second team, KSHSAA third team and KBCA honorable mention honors.
Tayten Dewey Tayten Dewey 5'9" | SF Rawlins County | 2025 State KS , 5’10”, SF, Rawlins County, Magic Basketball – Dewey quickly established herself as one of the top small school players western Kansas a couple years ago and has swiftly developed into one of the top small school forwards in the state. A two-time Northwest Kansas League selection Dewey has also earned all-state honors in two classes due to the Buffaloes bouncing up and down between 2A and 1A Div I classifications. Consistently she has shown good speed, scoring with elevation, and athleticism on both ends of the floor. Dewey is also shoots well in the mid-range and beyond the arc. This past season she averaged 11.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2.9 assists. She also shot 26% from three and 75% from the line.
Lydia Reed Lydia Reed 6'2" | C St. John | 2025 State KS , 6’2″, PF, St. Johns-Hudson, WKE – Reed and the Tigers had a break-out season in 2024. The team finally overcame rival Central Plains and clawed their way to the state tournament. While Reed has a slender frame she has legitimate height and length. She has good transition speed, is active working in the half court, and has really good hands. She boxes and elevates well around the hoop and can finish at speed with extension with both hands. Defensively she defends the high screen well and generally ties things up inside. Gaining strength and continued growth in her mid-range and perimeter game will be the thing to watch in the year ahead. The Tigers only lose their all-state senior point guard Heidi Fisher Heidi Fisher 5'3" | PG St. John | 2024 State KS to graduation and so should be a favorite to return to state…depending on their sub-state draw of course. Reed was named to the Central Prairie League first team after being tabbed for the second team in 2023. She also earned KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas honorable mention honors in 2024.
Paige Corter Paige Corter 5'8" | SF Flinthills | 2025 State KS , 5’8″, PF/SF, Flinthills, Next Level – After a strong summer playing with her club team the two-time South Central Border League selection had a huge junior season with the 18-5 Mustangs. She averaged 17.5 points and 8.7 rebounds on the way to earning KBCA and KSHSAA third team and Sports In Kansas second team honors. She has a solid build and is very scrappy on both ends of the floor. Corter creates a wide variety of shots out of her block game and can step out to shoot the three ball. Her work has turned her into one of the top power forwards in the classification.
Jalynn Weakley Jalynn Weakley 5'11" | PF Madison | 2025 State KS , 5’11”, PF, Madison/Hamilton, Kansas Triple Threat – After averaging 16.4 points and 7.7 rebounds Weakley was named to the Lyon County League first team for the second consecutive season after being named to the 2022 second team. She also was selected to the KBCA, KSHSAA and Sports In Kansas honorable mention list. Weakley has good north-south quickness, transition handles and athleticism with the ball on the finish. She has an average build who uses her length well to disrupt passing lanes and generate steals.
