As we continue to cycle through the most recent quarterly rankings updates, our focus is now on the incredibly strong and deep 2026 class. While there is still a lot of time left in their playing careers, this class has proven to be one of the deeper classes in some time, so regardless of where a player might be ranked, there is talent spread throughout the class. Below is a look specifically at the top combo guard prospects in 2026.

– Alonna is a really nice athlete who does a little bit of everything well. She can certainly attack the basket and get downhill quickly, she can change directions in traffic, and she’s improving as a facilitator. In transition, she sees the floor well and puts a lot of pressure on the defense. She is also improving as a 3-point shooter, and as that continues to come around, she’ll be even more difficult to defend. Additionally, I think she has enough physical talent to become a high-level on-ball defender. She recently transferred from Ben Davis to nearby Pike High School.

– In the last year or so, Myah has done a tremendous job of recognizing her weaknesses and working to improve them. She has continued to develop her lateral quickness and ability to defend smaller, quicker guards, she has worked on her handle and made it much more dynamic, and she has become a more consistent perimeter shooter and a real threat outside. She can act as a traditional point guard and get you 10+ assists a game, or she can be a multilevel scorer and get you 25+ points a game. When she plays somewhere in between, she is most dangerous.

– Warren Central always seems to have talented kids, but for whatever reason, they often fly under the radar. Denell is one of those kids who has put together back-to-back strong seasons for the Warriors. She has nice speed and quickness, a quiet toughness to her game, plus she can affect the game in many different ways. She is a really nice defender, both on and off the ball. She can push in transition and find open teammates, run half-court offense, plus she’s a talented shooter and scorer, and she can score it in bunches at times. She’ll be one to watch for sure.

Borden | 2026

– The Shamrock Classic was my first opportunity to see A.J., and I think she could become a really nice small college prospect. She has a strong frame, broad shoulders, but also a little length at her height. She plays with a great motor, she isn’t afraid of physicality, and she is willing to stick her nose in there and rebound/defend. She has ball skill, the ability to make an open jumper, and she seems like a good teammate. If she can continue to improve her lateral quickness and on-ball defense, I think that will be a big indicator as to what types/levels of schools recruit her.

– After the Shamrock Classic, I mentioned that I felt Maddy played well. She is a wiry-strong, solid athlete, and she plays with a great motor. She is willing to do a lot of the “little things” other people don’t want to do. She has some North/South speed, though she could work on her change-of-direction movements a little. Defensively, she will guard the ball with effort, she gets to “help” well, and she will battle bigger players when necessary. I feel like she has handled the ball a lot more this Spring, and that should definitely help her improve her game quickly.
