First Coast Summer League Notes

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In this article we take a look at some of the summer league action in Jacksonville. After getting out and catching a few games this week, here are some “b-ball” observations on the First Coast. <br></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='708144' first='Jocelyn' last='Hoffmann'] has good handles and she is one smooth player at the point guard position. The young guard is confident on the floor and her teammates look to her for leadership on the floor. More importantly, her coaches look to her for leadership. Hoffmann enters high school ball as 8 seniors exit. Looks like Ponte Vedra has found their new leader. During summer ball action this week, Hoffmann showed a very high basketball IQ: she reads the floor and makes the correct basketball play almost every time; she is very good at setting her teammates up for shots; and most impressive, she can move without the ball and set herself up for the shots. By the way, she was the best shooter on the floor and must have drained at least 5 threes. The impressive part about her performance is that the defense did everything they could to stop her. The young guard was out there killing it.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='430455' first='Kimora' last='Hester']&nbsp; was out there dominating&nbsp; with her ability to outrun, out jump,&nbsp; out physical everyone on the floor.&nbsp; Her ability to finish at the rim was very impressive, her midrange was potent, and her strength was elite. She looked like a college player playing against high school players at times. Hester is riding a lot of momentum and has picked up several college offers during the spring evaluation period. She showed why! She is the real deal. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='400813' first='Asiana' last='McCreary'] (COVER PHOTO) is making some waves at the summer league and the First Coast is on notice. She will play her “Sophomore” season at Tocoi Creek. The young power forward - center is versatile with an inside game and outside game. McCreary immediately moves the bar for Tocoi Creek, who already had high expectations for next season. This addition could change the entire landscape of high school ball in St Johns county.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='400785' first='Audrey' last='Beyer'] continues to play well and she is on fire on the recruiting trail as well. That is being manifested on the court. Beyer's game has improved and she can attack the rim as well as shoot the three. She has also improved her shooting touch and range. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='514916' first='Caeli' last='Weaver'] is a young player to watch.&nbsp; Her length stood out and she showed some nice things on the court during the short time that I saw her.&nbsp; She gets good position on the inside and can finish around the rim.&nbsp; She also gets good position to rebound the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='738971' first='Gabi' last='Iturralde']&nbsp; turned some heads during summer league play. The young guard is a leader on the floor.&nbsp; She possesses good instincts on the floor and has good anticipation on the defensive end.&nbsp; Offensively,&nbsp; she has the ability to shoot the three and drive the lane and dish or score.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='923090' first='Audrey' last='Rosendahl'] showed some nice things, including a nice three pointer from the right elbow.&nbsp; We will have to wait and see if she can shoot it like her big sister Kennedy,&nbsp; but Rosendahl is off to a good start.&nbsp; She has good speed on the floor and is solid on the defensive end.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='514624' first='Miranda' last='Campos'] showed some nice things and her athleticism continues to jump off the page.&nbsp; Campos has the skillset to average a double double.
