I was able to catch the Millennium Summer Classic over the weekend. This event had several teams that could contend for state championships next season. It was also a prelude for teams participating in Section 7 in the upcoming week.

Here, I look at more of the standout players that I saw:

[player_tooltip player_id='825620' first='Norah' last='Moo'] Pinnacle

Moo coming off receiving her first few offers, showed why she is among the best post players in the state. She has good hands and shows when she gets the ball in the right spots, she can do damage. Possibly the best rebounder in the state, she rebounded at a high level in and out of her area.

[player_tooltip player_id='443661' first='Olivia' last='Owens'] Phoenix Country Day

A prime Ivy League target, Owens glided up and down the court, displaying her athletic ability. When she got going in the open court she was a load to try and stop. She played defense aggressively, blocking shots and getting steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='689062' first='Morgan' last='Van Dyke'] Paradise Honors

Van Dyke played with her normal top-level effort that was contagious to her teammates. She has a nose for the ball on both sides of the ball and is especially aggressive on the offensive end. She attacked the basket at will over the weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='751756' first='Jayda' last='Hunt'] Millennium

Hunt looked like a player on the brink of a breakout. She has good hands and finished extremely well around the rim when the ball came. She also showed the ability to operate comfortably from the high post, whether as a scorer or passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='598347' first='Lakeisha' last='Robinson'] Cesar Chavez

Robinson continues to develop as a consistent offensive threat. She showed a quick first step and attacked the rim very hard. Her explosiveness allowed her to draw fouls once she got to the rim consistently. You won't find many that play as hard as Lakeisha.

[player_tooltip player_id='371488' first='Sidney' last='Anderson'] Salpointe Catholic

Sid has been on a tear recently as she has been collecting multiple offers. She continued to show that she is more than just a shooter but an all-around player. She handled the ball well, dished out assists, and finished well on the fast break. She is one of the hottest prospects in the state on the recruiting trail.

[player_tooltip player_id='614445' first='Jaziah' last='Billey'] Dobson (Featured Image)

Billey is the perfect set-up point guard. She did much more of what we have become accustomed to from her: to get her teammates open and easy looks. She attacked the center of defenses, forcing them to collapse on her, which led to many open looks. When her offense gets going she's that much more dangerous.

[player_tooltip player_id='797311' first='Mariah' last='Brownlee'] Millennium

Even though the freshman didn't play on the event's second day, she displayed plenty on the day she played. She showed versatility with her ball handling, a good-looking jump shot, and advanced court awareness for an incoming freshman.
