Guard Standouts I-35 Showcase: Oklahoma Guards 2026

First I would like to say thank you to the 1-35 group for hosting such an amazing event. The college coaches ranged from D2, D3, NAIA and JUCO levels. Which was a perfect fit for many of the teams I watched. I focused on the Class 2026 class as many are now able to receive phone calls from coaches. I am sure phones are ringing and offers are being made while I am posting this article.    Skylar is a combo guard that can play the point or shooting guard. An excellent scorer off the dribble as she sets up her defender patricianly to blow by for the layups. A finisher with either hand usually results in a bucket or foul. A up tempo guard that looks up the floor on breaks for the break out runner. Impressive was the 1/2 pass on breaks it was on a rope for the perfect assist. Solid mid range game off the dribble or catch and shoot.   On defense at 5'10 she has the height and quickness to be very effective at the top of a 2-2-1 press or in a 2-3 half court trap. Rebounds on the board like a 3 guard that needs no outlet on the break.   Skylar is ranked #10 in the state and has received offers ranking from D1 down. This high school season she has transferred to Dale making them a serious contender for the Gold Ball     As mentioned in my post on social I am always impressed with the motor that Sadie plays with. Great size for a shooting guard that has good handles as well. An excellent outside shooter that is a must locate if opposing team is playing a zone defense. The games I have been able to watch Sadie thrives in a dribble drive offense or a spread 5 out. A aggressive ball handler that get her shoulders going downhill reading the help defense making good decisions.   Aggressive defender that likes to apply the pressure in a full court concept. Nice understanding of how the defense rotates in the press. The type of player that does not mind throwing her body into a pile to come out with the 50/50 ball. Sadie competes on both ends of the floor.     A quick PG that can score in many ways. Excellent ball handler that looks to take her defender off the dribble with a series of moves. A ball handler that consistently collapsed the defense by getting paint touches. An outside shooter that keeps the defense honest as well if they play soft. Showed a nice step back move for a jumper breaking off the defender for a 3. Nice decisions when attacking the rim reading the defense for a layup, drop to post or kick to shooter. A guard that can push the tempo with her quickness and vision. Got the vision to hit the lane runner with a no look pass. A guard that knows where she going and what she is looking for in transition.   Avery has transferred to Norman High School for the upcoming season     [player_tooltip player_id='1260200' first='Kate' last='Datel'] 2026 Guard Bixby High School [program_tooltip program_id='716211' first='Team' last='Griffin'] 2026 Long guard that plays hard on both ends of the floor. Excellent defender either on the ball or off the ball. A defensive rebounder that needs no outlet as she has the handles to go coast to coast. An aggressive driver on offense looking to hits slot drive in the half court set. The game I watched Kate dropped 13 points against a high level team   [player_tooltip player_id='956940' first='Addison' last='Pehrson'] 5'11 Guard Mannford High School [program_tooltip program_id='716211' first='Team' last='Griffin'] 2026 At 5'11 Addison can play both the PG or Combo Guard. At times was a match up problem cause of her versatility on offense. An outside shooter that stretches out the defense with her deep range. On offense she is very effective at hitting the gaps getting downhill resulting in layup or foul. On defense gets low and long being able to guard a smaller guard on the outside. Long arms and understanding defensive rotation makes her a shot blocking guard as well. A 2027 playing up folks keep an eye on this young lady     A combo guard that comfortably can play the point or off guard positions. The type of guard that has a non stop motor making plays for her team. The game I watched she handled a majority of the point. Made good decisions at the point guard spot. Thrived in the downhill game getting to the rim for the score. Showed the outside shot coming off a nice pump fake side step for the 3.   Defensively she has great hands in the press getting several deflections that led to steals for points of turnovers.         Kelby is a competitor that does not like to lose and will do whatever it takes to help her team be successful. A combo guard that can knock down the 3 or give you a pump fake to get to the rim. Strong finisher that will draw the contact for the And 1 finish. Great leadership, nice decisions and good handles usually means when you need a basket the ball will be in her hands   Kelby play this weekend caught my attention along with my counterpart Sam.
