R4R Day-2 Notebook, Part-1

It's that time of year again, as the July "live" periods are upon us. The annual Run 4 Roses Classic tournament is underway in Louisville, Kentucky, with more than 80 courts in use. Below is a quick look at several prospects who stood out on Day-2 when I was able to see them.   .    Addison is playing so much stronger over the past 12-15 months, and this Spring specifically, she has been a better finisher at the basket. She is able to absorb contact better, explode vertically to the basket better, and she has improved her touch at odd angles. Additionally, she is a nice facilitator who willingly finds open teammates, plus she has improved her quickness and footwork defensively.     Ella was solid throughout the Spring, but these last two days she has looked motivated to finish her grassroots career with a bang. She has an athletic frame, length, plus she can run & jump with just about any similarly sized forward in Indiana's 2025 class. She has always shown touch in the mid-post, plus she can attack the basket and finish athletically over/through defenders.     Sam is an extremely long, wiry, but fairly physical-for-her-size front-liner who plays hard. She can get up and down the floor, she blocks/alters a lot of shots, plus she shows a well-balanced skillset herself. She can consistently knock down the 15-footer, she can take it somewhere productively 2-3 dribbles, and she is a solid high-low passer. She should take on a major role for the Shamrocks in 2024-2025.     Allison is a tough-nosed, hard-working, fairly physical wing prospect. She has always been an aggressive driver, and she does a nice job of getting her balance and exploding through contact to the rim. She has improved her touch outside, but she is so much more effective off the bounce or scoring it from the mid-post. She has become a nice rebounder, and she has learned to defend multiple positions equally well. She was very active Friday afternoon when I saw her.     Emma has always been a nice prospect, and she's had several colleges on her over the past couple of years, but this Spring & Summer she has really seen the intensity of her recruiting take off. She is a long lefty, she has an athletic frame with wiry strength, plus she is fast and has a little bounce to her game. She loves to get downhill and score it at the basket, but her perimeter stroke is starting to become more consistent. I also like her motor defensively and on the boards.     Mya is another prospect who has really put herself "on the radar" this Spring, in terms of her recruiting. She has a strong, athletic frame, some length, plus she is a nice North/South athlete. She plays fairly compact and likes to attack the basket straight-line, but she also has some touch outside coupled with a fairly quick release. She is definitely an offensive-minded player, but she will also give nice effort defensively.     In a state with a ton of little guards, not to mention a high school that possesses them as well, Mya has figured out ways to stand out. She is quick, fast, and feisty, and she has a very competitive motor. She is a playmaker off the bounce, she can find open teammates and help them improve their chances to score, but she is also a dangerous scorer herself. She had a nice game shooting the ball from the perimeter when I saw her Friday afternoon. I think she can lead a good small college program.     I thought Jacie had a really nice game early Friday, contributing at both ends of the floor. She is a broad-shouldered, strong, physical post, but she possesses good hands, solid footwork, and a developing skillset on the block. She keeps the ball high to finish, plus she is a nice box-out rebounder. Defensively, she likes to earn the spot early and "root out" opposing posts. If she can prove to score it consistently from 15-feet, that would certainly help her recruiting long-term.
