Mount Vernon High School will return this Winter with a lot of talent and a lot of aspirations as to where they would like their season to go. Someone out of their upperclassmen group, that has been a solid producer for years now is CG, [player_tooltip player_id='996522' first='Taylor' last='Franck']. When I saw Franck compete during AAU season, she stood out in several different aspects of the game because of her coordinated attacking and pesty defense. With the Mustangs, Franck is going to have even more open opportunities to make a lasting impact. She might not consistently stay on the floor with how many talented individuals they have but she will come in and have to hold her own when others are in foul trouble or need a break. Having a deep roster can be the difference to having a winning season so hopefully Franck can lace up for her Junior season with supreme confidence and let her play-style do the talking.

During the 2023-2024 high school season, Rock Valley High School finished their year with a 11-9 record. This upcoming season, the Rockets roster is going to look completely different, in a good way. They will bring in two 2026 transfers in the Rancschu twins and they will return their top 3 producers from a year ago as well. Their main producer being [player_tooltip player_id='996531' first='Miylie' last='Zomer']. Zomer is her team's Foward, that almost averaged a double-double in her 20 contests in the Points/Rebounds (15.2 PPG/8.9 RPG) department during the 23-24 season. When you combined those two things together, you understand how they could put together a Winter to remember if their coaching staff can adapt accordingly. A lot of their success will be determined within their strategy. If they put together a good one and execute, the rest will be history.

[player_tooltip player_id='996556' first='Jaeley' last='Kooiker'] is a prospect that takes what the defense is giving her. She is an individual that keeps it simple offensively while attacking, she has better than average coordination than most she is matching up against, and she has solid vision with the ability to hit an open target with an open pass when need be. Kooiker also plays the top of her team's full court trap, leading her teammates by example. It'll be interesting to see where Kooiker could take things these next two years. She is just finishing off an AAU season with her SIouxland Christian 17U team and she is going to be able to build on that moving forward by the looks of it.

I would be surprised if [player_tooltip player_id='988402' first='Mylee' last='Thurm'] of Denver High School didn't put together an eye-opening Winter ahead of us. Thurm is a 6'0 Forward, that controls the lane for her Cyclones team. She is another multi-sport athlete that brings a lot of strength and power behind her. Not only does she have the size, she has the physicality to back it up but the discipline to stay out of foul trouble at the same time. I'm not sure if Basketball is her passion but if Thurm follows along with it, she could end up with a high school career to remember before you know it.

[player_tooltip player_id='996545' first='Tori' last='White'] of Newton High School may only be staying between 5'6-5'7 but she loves physical play and isn't afraid to make it up with anyone else that might stand bigger than her underneath the hoop. White plays the bottom half of her team's 2-3 zone defensively and she EATS in the Rebounding category in the stat book. On every missed attempt, White is always flying in for a board, usually between two opponents. On the offensive, she does just as well. She is a prospect of opportunity, that understands when to step up into space in big moments, if someone else is creating with the ball. When she catches near the paint with her back to the basket, in more of a post position, she is better than average at finishing on either side of the rim. Newton could put together some impressive Wins this Winter if they lock in. They just have to mentally prepare to go 1-0 each contest and by the end of the season, they will love their results.

I have no idea what [player_tooltip player_id='981151' first='Abby' last='Neumiller'] is going to do this Winter with her Iowa City West Trojans squad but this is a team that has a solid system in place and some skilled prospects, so if she can find her opportunities early on in the season, she should be someone we hear about a couple times this upcoming season. Neumiller stands as one of the taller prospects on her Trojans team at 6'0 and she uses that height to her advantage every chance she gets. This program is going to start games quickly with their guard-play and then they will work from there. If everyone else can step up and do their jobs, it's going to be interesting how their season unfolds in the very end.
