Her activity on defense was terrific, and she deflected a handful of balls. Payton is an elite athlete, and coupling that with her instincts helps make her an elite defender. Payton found teammates and knocked down a handful of jump shots. Payton had some dazzling moves and showed it all today. She moves tremendously without the ball and can score from all over the court. Amaya used her strength well and bullied her way to the rim. Amaya defended well, and she had a couple of emphatic rejections. She rebounded the ball well today and was dominant all day. Kenzie battled hard inside and showed off her nice handle several times. Kenzie has good size for a wing right now. She knocked down a couple of threes today and has a great motor. She has the athleticism and size to get into the lane easily. Lauryn also has a variety of moves she gets to, and when she gets to her left hand, good luck trying to stop her. Lauryn rebounded well and defended. Today I watched her more extensively, and I loved what I saw. Nina has great size and uses it in the post. She sometimes makes the mistake of not going up as strong as she should, which is not an uncommon mistake for someone as young as Nina. She has great touch and is an excellent rebounder. Nina is a great spot-up shooter and has a terrific handle. What makes her performance so impressive is Nina is only an 8th grader, and she already has D1 offers.
