Freshman Showcase Follow-Up: Teams 7 & 8

With 90 prospects from the 2028 class in attendance, this provided an opportunity to see them compete head-to-head, as well as together, in a combination of 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games. The event was loaded with talent, making it difficult to limit the strong play to just a handful of players, so I wanted to circle back and discuss everyone from Teams 7 &amp; 8. There will be one final article highlighting Teams 9 &amp; 10 within the next day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><font color="FFFFFF">.</font></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><font size="+2">Team #7:</font></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#121 [player_tooltip player_id='992373' first='Sofia' last='Riley']</strong>, 5-5 SG, Scottsburg H.S. - Sofia is a rather long and wiry prospect at her height. She is a fairly fluid athlete, she has a solid skillset on the wing, but more than anything, she just needs time to finish growing and gaining some strength.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#154 [player_tooltip player_id='992689' first='Aniston' last='Kent']</strong>, 5-4 CG, Jennings County H.S. - Aniston was solid last Saturday. She has broad shoulders, nice length, and an all-around athletic frame. She can handle the ball at times and run offense, but she is also a very good perimeter shooter when she gets her feet set.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#229 [player_tooltip player_id='992376' first='Zella' last='Cook']</strong>, 5-2 PG, Northeastern H.S. - Zella is a nice little, quick/fast, and somewhat feisty prospect. She's another one who just needs time to grow and gain strength, however, she plays with a lot of energy, she can cause problems defensively, and she's crafty offensively.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#231 [player_tooltip player_id='913390' first='Emma' last='Righter']</strong>, 5-5 CG, Plainfield H.S. - Emma has a solid to strong frame at her size, she plays with an outstanding motor, and she displayed a good basketball IQ. She has some ball skill and can play point, or she can play off the ball and knock down open shots.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#555 [player_tooltip player_id='905531' first='Piper' last='Brinley']</strong>, 5-6 CG, Hamilton Southeastern H.S. - Piper has a solid to athletic frame, some length, and she moves well in most directions. She is another guard who can play on the ball and initiate an offense, or she can score it from the wing as either a shooter or attacker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#854 [player_tooltip player_id='917867' first='Catherine' last='Bassi']</strong>, 5-7 SG, Carmel H.S. - Catherine is a very long, wiry, fluidly athletic prospect who plays with a tremendous motor. North - Katharine is yet another long and wiry wing guard who needs a little time to grow and gain strength. (Pekin) - Bailee is a nice small school prospect who should do well at Eastern. She has length, she's a solid athlete in most directions, and she showed the ability to knock down shots and handle the ball a little, as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#553 [player_tooltip player_id='992352' first='Haylee' last='Mezera']</strong>, 5-6 PG, Hamilton Southeastern H.S. - Haylee looks like she could continue to grow, so she's another who needs a little time. She is long and fluid, plus she showed a nice skillset. She runs offense, she sees the floor pretty well, and she can knock down an open rhythm jumper.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#558 [player_tooltip player_id='893119' first='Mylah' last='Harris']</strong>, 5-4 SG, Lawrence North H.S. - Mylah has a solid to strong frame at her height. She doesn't mind physicality, and she absorbs contact upon attack. She is a solid athlete in most directions, and she played with a good motor all day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#850 [player_tooltip player_id='992356' first='Kambry' last='Shoults']</strong>, 5-7 SG, Northview H.S. - Kambry is a long and wiry wing guard who played with a nice motor. She showed a fairly balanced skillset, she was active defensively, and she got inside and rebounded her position well for her size.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#853 [player_tooltip player_id='746256' first='Dallas' last='Richey']</strong>, 5-7 SG, LaPorte H.S. - Dallas is a long wing prospect who is looking to shoot it on the catch. She is not much of an attacker at this time, so if she can add that to her repertoire, it would certainly help her get more open looks.
