Player Matchup

The matchup between [player_tooltip player_id='248551' first='Alanna' last='Tatum'] and [player_tooltip player_id='811411' first='Ronneisha' last='Thomas'] is one of the memorable matchups between 2 of the best young players in the 2026. Thomas won a State Championship as a freshman at Mainland and finished runner up in her Sophomore season. Tatum has made it to Lakeland two times herself. Tatum made it to Lakeland as an 8th grade starting point guard and returned last season in her Sophomore season. Each time they were eliminated in the first round. Many had this game bookmarked and it did not disappoint. Tatum and Thomas delivered. We break down each players performance:

[player_tooltip player_id='248551' first='Alanna' last='Tatum'] has taken her game to a new level and it was very evident at the Inside Exposure Thanksgiving Classic. Tatum has increased her scoring as is more efficient on the offensive end with more tools in the bag. A lot is predicated on her ball handling skills. Tatum can get where she wants to go on a court and then has a counter move depending on the defense. Tatum was matched up against super-athletic prospect [player_tooltip player_id='811411' first='Ronneisha' last='Thomas'] and to see the matchup you would definitely appreciate Tatum's ball handling skills. Tatum's ability to attack the rim and finish was impressive and few times she finished off the first step which allowed her to get her shot off against a good defender and thrown off the timing of a good shot blocker. Tatum also shot the ball well. Her midrange jumper was a potent as ever and she shot 50 percent from behind the three point line (for the entire tournament). Tatum plays on both sides of the court and she has the speed, quickness, footwork, lateral movement, and instincts. She often shuts down fast breaks with her speed and ability to cutoff drives to the basket, and she often blocks or affects shots when challenged at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='811411' first='Ronneisha' last='Thomas'] has been on my radar since she was a Freshman at Daytona Mainland. As a Freshman and Sophomore, she was always that selfless player who played lockdown defense and could handle the ball against the press and against good defenders. Wow, Thomas still has those skills, but they have been elevated to a different level. Thomas is fast and extremely athletic and can cut off a player's path to the rim. She was able to stay in front of some elite players and force them to counter their initial move. She played a great game against [player_tooltip player_id='248551' first='Alanna' last='Tatum'], and it made for a great matchup. Thomas plays the passing lanes, she gets to loose balls, and she can rebound from the guard position. Offensively, she was a threat to score from any level, but she was at her best when attacking the rim and getting out and running in transition.

Mignery had a game for the ages in front of college coaches, etc. The young Sophomore played with a vengeance and continued to show that she was one of the top players in the State in any class. Mignery can score the ball, and she is a rebounding machine on both sides of the floor. Mignery has expanded her game, and that hard work is paying off. Mignery showcased her improved ball-handling skills and her three-point shooting. On day two of the Inside Exposure Tournament, Mignery had her game on full throttle. The Sophomore forward had 30 points, 11 rebounds, and was three of three behind the three-point line.

[player_tooltip player_id='844873' first='Sara' last='Dagba'] was a standout at the Inside Exposure tournament and really showed elite and versatile skills. She is a player who plays on both sides of the court. Dagba has a versatile offensive game and has the ability to play on the perimeter or play with her back to the basket. She showed her versatility in the pick-and-roll game, where she made plays as the ball handler and also as the player setting the pick. Dagba stood out with her back to the basket. She utilized good footwork and consistently got to the rim to score. She also demonstrated good court vision and made some nice passes to "big" on the inside.

[player_tooltip player_id='248694' first='Nyla' last='McFadden'] was an extremely talented player who could score going to the rim and was also effective in the midrange game. McFadden's athleticism jumped off the chart and off the court. She ran the floor well and was a force in transition defense. McFadden was excellent at chasing down the player in transition and blocking the shot. She was also excellent on defense at protecting the rim. McFadden is a talented player who can score from anywhere on the floor, including shooting the three point shot.

[player_tooltip player_id='346818' first='Jayden' last='Terry'] played well on Day two of the event, showing why she is one of the top shooting guards in the State of Florida. Terry took over the game, scoring at the rim almost at will. She has the ability to knife through a defense and convert very difficult shots. Terry was versatile throughout the game, playing both the point guard position and also the shooting guard position.
