The Southeast Polk Rams travelled East to North Liberty to face off against the Lightning to start their 2024-25 season. Both teams started a bit slow but once they got their footing it was off to the races. Though Liberty came out with the 63-55 win, there was a lot to like on the young Rams squad.
[player_tooltip player_id='1092000' first='Margaret' last='Johnson'] will be a solid role player for the Rams this season. She is a hustle player - she was on the floor after loose balls at least five times on Monday night. In addition she had a solid rip through baseline finish during crunch time toward the end of the game. I really liked Johnson's energy and I think her role will continue to grow this year.

If you look up Energizer Bunny in the dictionary, you will probably find [player_tooltip player_id='311395' first='Zoe' last='Hinze']'s name. She was buzzing from baseline to baseline and was an impact player on Monday for the Rams. Hinze has a pretty jumpshot with a quick trigger, explosive quickness off the dribble, and plenty of speed to stay in front of ball handlers. Averaging 9.4PPG last season, Hinze started off her senior year with a 15 point night on Monday. I envision many more double digit games this season for Zoe.

[player_tooltip player_id='311394' first='Alyssa' last='Bartlett'] is the motor that makes Southeast Polk go. The senior point guard showed off excellent court vision, physicality and motor on Monday, playing the entire game for the Rams. Bartlett was on triple double watch as well, finishing the night with 19 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. Don't let her height fool you - Barlett can score at every level and does so with authority. One of my favorite plays of the game Monday featured Bartlett shouldering a defender and scooping through contact for a tough and one. Bartlett looks prepped for an impressive senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='777230' first='Halle' last='Clark'] was one of my favorite players on the floor Monday night. She's a fearless shooter with excellent form, going 3/6 from deep and hitting back-to-back threes early in the first quarter. She's also a pesky defender who made Liberty guards uncomfortable throughout the night. I really liked Clark's shiftyness on the catch as well. [player_tooltip player_id='777230' first='Halle' last='Clark'] has a lot of great basketball ahead of her, and I believe she will be the Rams' X-Factor this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1091998' first='Olivia' last='Twohey'] is another player with the potential to level up this season. She's disciplined and has the intangibles to be a consistent contributor for the Rams. She did a great job playing with active hands on defense and used her athleticism to keep players in front of her. Twohey has a smooth jumper too - she is more than comfortable letting it fly against a high hand, and her form looked very smooth.
