A Quick Look at 10 Impact Freshmen, Part 2

Three weeks of possible games and the winter KSHSAA moratorium has gone. Ahead of next week's games I think it is a good time to take a look at freshmen impacting at the varsity level. Numerous 2028s have already carved out major roles for their teams. In this part two of two take a look at the second five of ten impact players. I was one of a few scouts who caught English playing for Missouri Legacy this past summer on the PGH Dynasty Circuit and we all had plenty to say. English has really good size and her build, and IQ to use it both forcefully and subtly, make her her especially difficult to for opponents to sustain battling her for an entire game. She works well off the bounce and has shown fluidness, quickness and strength. Footwork is one of the first things I look at when scouting players and hers is consistently good on both ends of the floor. A versatile talent who played every position for her club team for now her best work is done below the free throw line. In a loss to Field Kinley just more than a week ago she had 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Dragons.     Three games into the season Sullivan is leading a very strong Thunder team in scoring at 17.3 points per game, shooting 65% from the floor. She also has racked up 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and a block per game as well. She has solid size, fluidness on the finish with either hand and speed with the ball.     The talented freshman opened her high school career by averaging 17 points over three games at the Hays Shootout, including 25 in the championship game win over Life Prep Academy. Regarded inside and outside the state as one of the top 2028s in Kansas she has great handles and quickness. She has a high level, mature game that college coaches have quickly noticed. Among the things I like is her ability to get to the rim with her pick-and-roll reads.     The Cardinal freshman is providing some much needed scoring. Through four games she is putting up 12 points and 8.5 rebounds. A three point threat, Vondracek wastes little motion shooting off the catch or the dribble. She is also snagging 2.3 steals and dishing out 2.3 assists.     The starter for the Eagles is averaging 11.6 points, including 69% from the line, and 5 assists in the early going with a 1.67 assists-to-turnovers ratio. Williams is also pulling down 4 rebounds and handing out 1.6 assists. She has transition speed with the ball and finishing ability against challengers at speed. Her build is imposing as she is not a player defenders will be happy to draw a charge from.
