Rivalry Saturday brought out some eye-opening and respectable performances in each contest. This event is always a bench mark for programs to judge where they stand to start their season compared to others and I think everyone who competed this time around should be proud of the product that they brought to the floor. In this piece we will talk about five prospects that played really well in their efforts, no matter if they won or lost.

EBF is going to be a legit threat this Winter to a lot of programs that they matchup against because of their deep bench, smart coaching staff, and their standout prospects. Someone that returns for them for her Senior season from the SG spot, that is going to light it up this Winter is [player_tooltip player_id='645206' first='Ava' last='Eastlick']. Eastlick registered over 5 three pointers in her team's 12 point victory over Cascade on Saturday in Cedar Rapids and this is really just a demonstration of what she can really do. Eastlick is someone that might not be the tallest but she plays with heart and a sniper from deep. Those two things can take you a lot of places, so it'll be interesting to see how this program's year unfolds if they get her the ball in favorable positions.

One of the best performances of the day was had by [player_tooltip player_id='311367' first='Jayden' last='Kuper'] and her efforts early on Saturday morning. I don't have the exact stat line from Kuper but I know she ended with over 25 points, while her team only put up 47 in their 6 point loss to Williamsburg. Kuper not only impacts the floor from an offensive standpoint but she works relentlessly hard on defense as well and that shows every time she is competing. It sure showed in this game and that will stay constant moving forward for the rest of her Senior year, until see eventually takes her talents to the next level for some collegiate ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='509225' first='Averie' last='Lower'] of CCA High School broke the Rivalry Saturday three point record with her big shooting performance. Lower has always been one of the Midwest's best three point shooters and that was on full display against Maquoketa when she made 8 three balls in her team's 57-63 loss. We have mentioned it moving into this season already but Lower needs to put together her best year-to-date if CCA wants to do as well as they have in the recent past. They do have a few others that can step up in important moments but it really comes down to Lower and what she can bring to the table.

When you watch AC compete this Winter, you know what you are going to get. You are getting a scrappy, grind it out - type of game, that they are okay to win with a low score. You get Illinois State commit, [player_tooltip player_id='311360' first='Jaeden' last='Pratt'] and Drake commit - [player_tooltip player_id='311377' first='Mya' last='Crawford'] leading the way but if they want to win meaningful games this Winter, someone else is going to have to step up. I think that prospect could be Grand View commit, [player_tooltip player_id='311353' first='Tillie' last='Smith']. Smith registered 12 Points on 33.3% shooting from the field and from three point range in their dominating victory on Saturday against Pleasant Valley. In a contest that the Jaguars did their thing, Smith was one of their most vital pieces and I wouldn't be surprised if that trend continues moving forward as other's for them will bring a lot of attention and open up a lot of holes for others within their system.

[player_tooltip player_id='435773' first='Cora' last='Widel'] of Maquoketa High School is prepped to have a big Junior season a head with her Cardinal team. Widel, a 6'1 Forward, is an agile playmaker with length, athletic ability, and a tenacity that you have to see to believe. In their contest against CCA, Widel recorded 15 Points on 33.3% shooting from the floor. She also impacted things on defense with her reach and quick thinking while coming over from the help-side on several occasions. Ever since Widel was a young age she has been receiving interest from collegiate level recruiters and I expect that to pick up even more this Winter. She is truly a next level player and this Rivalry Saturday was a great start to the season for her and most importantly - her team.
