“The lockdown defense by Tillie Smith Tillie Smith 5'4" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA at this event has stood out as one of the best I have seen on the day. Smith is a quick mover, fast thinker, able adaptor, and someone that is willing to mix it up with anyone for the good of her program. On this team, she is the third option but that’s okay. She is still making waves on several different facets of the game for her squad and that’s all that matters.”

When you watch AC compete this Winter, you know what you are going to get. You are getting a scrappy, grind it out – type of game, that they are okay to win with a low score. You get Illinois State commit, Jaeden Pratt Jaeden Pratt 5'10" | CG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA and Drake commit – Mya Crawford Mya Crawford 5'7" | SG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA leading the way but if they want to win meaningful games this Winter, someone else is going to have to step up. I think that prospect could be Grand View commit, Tillie Smith Tillie Smith 5'4" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA . Smith registered 12 Points on 33.3% shooting from the field and from three point range in their dominating victory on Saturday against Pleasant Valley. In a contest that the Jaguars did their thing, Smith was one of their most vital pieces and I wouldn’t be surprised if that trend continues moving forward as other’s for them will bring a lot of attention and open up a lot of holes for others within their system.

Tillie Smith Tillie Smith 5'4" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA of Ankeny Centennial High School is their second prospect to commit to the next level within the past week with her commitment to Grand View out of Des Moines. Smith will basically get to stay at home with this commitment and I think that’s something that was really important to her. She is a smaller PG, that certainly can hold her own. She handles pressure with a calm demeanor, she sets up others to make them better around her, and she seems to move effortlessly down the floor. She will have to continue to work if she wants to see the court at the next level but it’s more than possible at this point. It’ll be awesome to see what she can make happen but first, I’m sure she is going to worry about the Winter season ahead with her Ankeny Centennial team. A group that now has four college committed prospects who will see the Varsity floor these next few months.

Another individual that jumps off of the screen because of her ability to control her team is Tillie Smith Tillie Smith 5'4" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA . Smith is a guard that is a constant. That is the best way to describe her game in my opinion. She stays on the floor most of the time and is her team’s orchestrator of everything that is happening out there. To be a good point guard, you have to be aware of you surroundings at all times throughout a contest. I think this is another intangible that Smith displays. There is never a moment when she doesn’t understand the best route for success for her team, wether it be on offense or defense. Looking forward, I’ve seen the future rosters of a lot of the collegiate programs throughout the state and I believe that Smith should find a home before her high school days are over. She is one of the more fundamental guards that I’ve seen throughout the state, accounting for all classes and I hope she demonstrates that again this winter at Ankeny Centennial.

Tillie Smith Tillie Smith 5'4" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA is coming off of a season where she played as a spot up sharp shooter at the varsity level coming off the bench. It looks like to start this year she will be asked to do the same thing while expanding her game to make it more diverse. Smith through two games is shooting 54.5% from the field and 55.6% from behind the three point line. As the year goes on she will become more confident, become more aggressive and start to really show what she can do on the floor. On the defensive end she works hard and stays on her assignment that is given to her. She doesn’t over help and is always the first one on the floor for a loose ball. She is generally a player that anyone would love to play next to on the court. As this season goes on and her team continues to dominate, Smith will show that she is one of the best shooters in the state and can contribute to a college program by not just making jump shots but being a scoring weapon from all three levels.

In the first game of her sophomore year Tillie Smith Tillie Smith 5'4" | PG Ankeny Centennial | 2025 State IA came off the bench for Ankeny Centennial High School and lit it up from beyond the three point line, making 4 out of 5 shots while ending the game 5/6 from the field with 14 points. Smith is a good shooter with a fundamental shot and good balance as she comes off screens. If she is given an open look for more than a second, it will have a good chance of going in. As the season goes on she will show what else she can do for her team as a scorer and overall player. Once she is more comfortable in the varsity system it should all come a little bit easier to her.
