Waterford Holiday Classic

I spent the early afternoon at Macomb Community College for our Lake Michigan College Women's Basketball game, but I was able to catch the final two games of the Waterford Holiday Classic. Holly defeated Waterford United JV 20-3, North Farmington defeated Walled Lake Central 37-31, Bloomfield Hills defeated Flint Kearsley 73-38, Pinckney defeated Notre Dame Prep 49-41, and Waterford United defeated Fenton 54-48 in overtime. She converted strong finishes off two feet around the basket, made unselfish passes to perimeter shooters on her drives, and scored a smooth high pickup layup off the dribble. Riley muscled her way to rebounds, created steals, and added an impressive fake-pass pivot floater in the paint. She has strong hands catching the ball and knocked down key free throws that helped Pinckney secure a 49-41 victory. Audrey tied the team-high with 16 points and added 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals. Audrey beat defenders to score downhill drives in the half-court and transition. She showed her competitive fire by chasing down a breakaway to deflect the ball out of bounds and pursuing offensive rebounds.
