Owensboro Catholic is very good and having a great season but they have been relying on [player_tooltip player_id='254278' first='Karmin' last='Riley'] and [player_tooltip player_id='688040' first='Aubrey' last='Randolph'] to do most of the scoring. Enter [player_tooltip player_id='913673' first='Sophia' last='Newby']. Sophia has great size on the wing and is an efficient scorer for such a young player. Don't be surprised if she's a breakout player in the 3rd next season.

The boys team at GCHS gets all the headlines but the Lady Warhawks are having a great season. Sitting at 13-8, GC is led by freshman [player_tooltip player_id='675265' first='Kendall' last='Kearney'] at almost 13 points per game. Kendall is a volume scorer at the point guard spot but her defensive abilities get overlooked quite a bit. Kearney has the potential to be a big time two way guard.

Lawrence County ALWAYS has talented players in the girls' program and this season is no different. As a freshman, Jada is averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds per game while making 54 percent of her shots. She's only attempted a few three pointers this season but as she gets more comfortable launching from distance, look for her stock to take off.

Taylin is having a really good freshman season, averaging 10 points and 6 boards per game for a Woodford team that is in the thick of the 8th region title race. Wade brings energy on the defensive end and plays with a mean streak that you don't always see in a player her age. Long term, I expect [player_tooltip player_id='881375' first='Taylin' last='Wade'] to be a top player in the 8th region and in the 2028 class as a whole.
