Earlier this week Prep Girls Hoops watched Manning vs Atlantic Collegiate Academy at the Flight Deck in Conway. The Armada held off a feisty group from Manning HS and won 43-41. The Armada was led in scoring by junior [player_tooltip player_id='821367' first='Micah' last='Davis'] with 14 points. Davis a left-handed forward does her best work contributing around the rim. Davis is a very good athlete who stays active around the paint area. Micah has no problems jumping on the deck for a loose ball at times.

[player_tooltip player_id='1180353' first='Cayleigh' last='Johnson'] a sophomore shooting guard recently got eligible for the Armada contributed 11 points. Johnson provided some timely shooting from the floor. [player_tooltip player_id='821381' first='Zaniya' last='Blackmon'] a sophomore guard generally plays on the ball as the primary ball-handler. Zaniya at times was able to get to the bucket while fending off defenders on the way. She looks to penetrate-kick to open teammates whenever possible.

The Lady Monarchs fall to (5-15) on the season under Head Coach Justin Johnson. Prep Girls Hoops has seen this program a few times this season and they have certainly made some good strides forward under Coach Johnson.

Taniya Johnson a sophomore guard did her best job to keep the Lady Monarchs in this game. The Lady Monarchs were trailing 25-14 at the halftime break before outscoring the Armada 17-7 in the 3rd quarter to erase the deficit to 32-31. Johnson a physical downhill guard looked to take things in her own hands at times. Taniya certainly plays the game as a driver on the floor. She finished with 17 points in the loss today. Junior Tamia Watson a guard finished with 10 points while 8th grader [player_tooltip player_id='992816' first='Ameerah' last='Conyers'] added 5 points and 12 rebounds.

Dillon HS Defeats Waccamaw HS Lady Warriors on Senior Night:

The Dillon HS Lady Wildcats were playing shorthanded here today without the services of freshman guard [player_tooltip player_id='429829' first='Treasure' last='Davis']. The Lady Wildcats took an awhile to get things going down in Pawleys Island today before leaving with a 41-30 victory. Waccamaw HS led 15-8 at halftime. Dillon HS struggled all night long scoring the ball.

Sophomore guard [player_tooltip player_id='833034' first='Khwnylahi' last='McKinnon'] led the way for the Lady Wildcats with 19 points. McKinnon is extremely ATHLETIC and really looks to excel in the transition game. Khwnylahi really looks to cover a lot of ground all over the floor with her high motor she shows to have. She plays at her best when playing in attack mode with the ball in her hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='250481' first='Mariah' last='Campbell'] a senior guard finished with 16 points in the win for Dillon HS. Mariah was able to bury some free throws down the stretch along with some short jumpers.

Waccamaw HS playing without [player_tooltip player_id='569805' first='Ayami' last='Prior'] led 24-21 entering the 4th quarter. Being senior night, I recognized something I have never seen before at a high school game. Waccamaw HS has three players planning to attend 3 different Ivy League Schools next fall for college. Miah Smith - Princeton, Olivia Hodo - Yale and Halina Gregory to Harvard. All 3 players will be just students in college.

The Loris HS Lady Lions defeated Marlboro County HS quite easy last night 63-11. The Lady Lions were led in scoring by freshman [player_tooltip player_id='824826' first='Dazena' last='Capers'] with 15 points, [player_tooltip player_id='342513' first='Janiya' last='Richburg'] added 14 points and [player_tooltip player_id='552624' first='MariAsia' last='Moody'] chipped in with 14 points also.
