To be a, “Stock-Riser”, means a few things depending on how you look at it but the most important factor in my opinion is that the prospect is continuously putting in meaningful work in their off-time and that work is translating to the floor in real game-time. In this piece, we cover six individuals out of this 2028 Class in Nebraska, that have embodied what it means to be a Stock-Riser these past few months.

Bennington High School is set up to make a State Tournament run for the next few years if they continue to do things the right way. Someone for the Badgers, that is going to be a productive collegiate player one day is [player_tooltip player_id='884656' first='Macie' last='Reiner']. Reiner saw the floor in moderation this Winter and did what she was asked. Reiner is a guard with better than average size at 5'10, she can score on all three offensive levels while being a calculated weapon, she can stick and switch onto multiple positions defensively, and she shows some intangibles on a consistent basis. She communicates loudly, gets on the floor for loose balls, she is always trying to adapt to the situation at hand, and she honestly doesn't care if she gets credit for things - she just wants to succeed with her teammates. Which is very respectable. As you can tell, the future with Reiner is bright. No doubt about it.

[player_tooltip player_id='884235' first='Shayla' last='Rautenberg'] was one of the tallest and most coordinated players that I saw on the floor this Winter. Rautenberg, a 6'1 Forward, is someone that really shows her worth whenever she takes the floor. As a Forward Rautenberg has great size, athletic ability, coordination, and knowledge of the game by the basket. She is tall enough to control basically everything that happens in the painted area's as long she is near by. She has proven over the last three months that she is a constant on offense with her natural reach and back-to-the-basket ability. Her team is very good at getting her the ball off screening action from one side of the floor to the other and that mixed with her length gives her some easy attempts throughout a contest. Defensively, watch out. This is someone that could be a DPOTY in her Class and Conference, she just needs to continue to make the most of her opportunities.

I am not sure if [player_tooltip player_id='1180573' first='Aspen' last='Billeter'] of Southwest is going to be playing AAU this Spring/Summer season but if she does, I'm sure she is going to standout. Billeter took the Varsity floor as a freshman this past Winter and she held her own at every position. Billeter seemed to move around between the 2, 3, and 4 spot all season long, while also having the ability to bring it up as the PG if needed. Her mixture of athleticism and experience really set her apart from her competition. When you watch this group on film, Billeter seems to move a bit differently than everyone else. She floats and makes things seem effortless, even though she is giving her full-effort. I am aware that Billeter is also a promising Volleyball prospect as well so we will just have to see over-time which she chooses for her collegiate future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1117950' first='Claire' last='Emerson'] of Wahoo Public High School displayed a solid shot from distance and some quick hands this past season as a freshman. Emerson comes into this Update as a 5'10 SG/SF for her team. Offensively, Emerson likes to move around the outside and hit three pointer jumpers when the ball is rotated back to her. She also likes to attack the basket when she is running in transition and she see's some open space. If there isn't any, she will adapt to the outside. We have only seen a glimpse of what Emerson can really do. When she gets more time on the floor these next few years, I'm sure we will continue to see her promise as she grows as a prospect.

I received several texts during State Tournament week that [player_tooltip player_id='1044997' first='Abby' last='Crabtree'] of Milford out of the 2028 Class is someone to know. Crabtree, a 5'5 PG/SG, is as skilled as they come with the ball in her possession. When Milford is running full steam ahead, Crabtree is usually playing well. She is either attacking her defenders hips and looking to get into the teeth of the defense for an assist or she is looking to score herself. Every game she records a handful of tips, deflections, and steals on the defensive end and that production is noteworthy. Anytime you can impact a game on defense alone with your efforts, it's meaningful because that can transfer to the next level. We are still early in the process with everyone in this Class but I like what I've seen so far out of Crabtree.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221216' first='Abi' last='Spargo'] was one of the highest scoring PPG prospects out of the 2028 Class over the last three months on the Varsity floor. Spargo, a 5'11 PF, usually has size, strength, and more coordination than those that she has to compete against. At Dundy County-Stratton, Spargo just looks the part of being the most dominant compared to others within her conference and that along with her soft touch make for a combination that produces against most. I would like to see Spargo against some other elite opponents but all in due time. She is working hard, controlling what she can and that's all you can ask for.
